“Thanks for your help Mikaela.” Sam and his ex stood the doorway of Mikaela’s house. “No problem Sam. Just take good care of Bee, ‘kay?” Sam nodded happily, “I will.” He waved goodbye to Mikaela and set off to his house, where he last saw Bee. He had so much to tell him. First he needed to say he was sorry for running away. Then he would say that he loved Bee. He loved everything about him. He loved his sleek armor. He loved his voice. He loved his playful curiosity. It only took him this long to realize that he couldn’t live without Bee, and he would do anything to be with him…Bee was Sam’s protector…but Sam was also Bee’s protector…

“I thought I killed you.” Bumblebee said smugly as he dodged another missile, which exploded on the side of an abandoned warehouse. “Not quite little one…before he left, Starscream had me repaired and upgraded. I’ve never felt more alive, especially with my new friends…” Barricade held up his right arm and caressed the missile launcher on top of it.
Bumblebee just laughed. “Like you have any friends…” Bumblebee growled and barked out, “Shut up! I don’t want to listen to your wit today, I have a job to do. As soon as I’m done tearing you to shreds, I’m going to find that annoying human of yours and obliterate him!” Bumblebee’s playful tone vanished, replaced by serious worry. “Don’t you dare hurt Sam. I won’t let you!” Barricade smirked, “Oh…it seems I’ve hit a nerve. Tell me, what does that filthy flesh bag mean to you? I bet you just love him don’t you…”
Bumblebee stood still, and completely froze at the word “love”. Barricade waited for a comeback, but when he didn’t get one, he let out a loud maniacal laugh. “I can’t believe it! You’ve fallen in love with a human! You Autobots are disgusting!” Barricade continued to laugh while Bumblebee got lost in his own shame. When the decepticon finally came down from his high, he pointed his missile launcher directly at Bumblebee’s head.
“You slagging piece of filth…why don’t you just kill yourself and save me the trouble? You’re a disgrace to Cybertonians everywhere! An abomination! And now…you will die!” Barricade yelled out the last few words as his missile launcher hummed to life. Bumblebee waited anxiously for it all to end. Maybe Barricade was right. Maybe he did deserve to die…

Sam ran to his backyard and found it empty. He searched through the dark yard and found no trace of Bee anywhere. Damn. Sam kneeled sunk into the grass. Bee was probably just as confused and lost as he was. If only Sam hadn’t run away from his feelings, he’d still be with him…his Bee. Where could he have gone?
Optimus. Sam stood up, ready to find the Autobot leader, when he realized…he didn’t know where Optimus was either. And he didn’t have a car. Shit. Sam kicked the grass and grabbed his hair in frustration. Why did everything have to be so difficult?
An engine revved nearby, and Sam’s head shot up in excitement. He was disappointed, but surprised to see Mikaela in an old and beat up Ford truck. Dirt and mud was caked onto the bottom and the sides of the baby blue car, and it was rusted in so many places, you’d think the car was originally brown. Sam walked over to the monstrosity. “Where did you get that, at a junkyard?”
Mikaela smiled. “Actually, yes. I needed a car to get around after we split up, so I fixed up this old beauty.” Sam knew that this rumbling mess was far from beautiful. “This brings new meaning to the term ‘grease monkey’…” Mikaela frowned a bit. “Just get in.”
Sam reluctantly climbed into the passenger’s seat of the aging car and paused, taking note of the torn leather seats and musty smelling cabin. “She won’t bite Sam. Come on.” Sam finished climbing in and closed the door with a loud metallic ‘clap’. He looked around the car and smiled awkwardly, “…homey.” Mikaela ignored the dripping sarcasm. “I wanted to check up on you guys to see how things were going…”, she looked out into the empty backyard, “…and I don’t think you guys are playing hide-and-seek. So, do you wanna go look for him?”
Sam quickly nodded at the suggestion. He wanted to find Bee more than anything right now. As they pulled away from Sam’s house, Sam couldn’t help but think how weird it felt to be in another car…without Bee…

The orange was quickly disappearing from the clouds in the sky, changing to pinks and reds as the sun sank lower behind the horizon. Sam lay back in the driver’s seat, relaxing and listening to Celine Dion. He didn’t care if it wasn’t manly. It was damn relaxing. And it gave Sam time to think about things…like the fact that he was falling…hard…for his best friend…his car…
He didn’t know what exactly he loved about Bee. It could have been his bravery, his complete devotion to his loved ones, that made Sam swoon. It may have been his body, Bee’s sleek yellow armor and muscular form of metal machinery, that made Sam melt. Then again, maybe it was Bee’s innocence, his pure intentions and curiosity of the world around him, that made Sam’s heart ache.
“Sam…” The teen blinked at the sound of his name. “My thermal readings indicate that your body temperature has greatly increased. Are you feeling sick?” Sam blinked again, then shook his head. “No Bee, I’m fine.” But that was a lie. Sam was sick alright…lovesick for his car/robot/best friend…
However, Sam was certain that he was mentally sick as well. He knew that guys naturally thought cars were a turn on, but this was ridiculous. Sex with a car? Robo-sex? Sam was a real geek freak. How could he even think about Bee like that? Thinking of sex with his best friend…Bee’s huge form caressing Sam as he writhed under his grasp. Moans escaping his lips as an energy embraced him and pulled Sam closer to release. Being surrounded by ecstasy…Bee calling out his name…
“…Sam…Sam.” Sam’s thoughts fluttered back to the driver’s seat of his Camaro. “What is it Bee?” he asked in a slightly breathy voice. “Well…it’s just that your body is…acting strange…It has been releasing an unusually great amount of hormones.” At that moment, Sam noticed that his jeans were very tight. Damn his teenage body. “I’m okay Bee…it’s just…” Sam’s face turned red in embarrassment. How could he explain this to Bee, “…natural.”
The radio dialed in to different stations until Information Society filled the car.
I wanna know what you're thinking.
There are some things you can't hide.
I wanna know what you're feeling.
Sam blushed hotly at the lyrics. “It’s nothing Bee, really.” God he felt so guilty. Sam didn’t like distancing himself from his friend. Soon. Sam decided he would tell Bee soon. At least then he won’t have to keep lying to Bee…and himself.
Bee was silent for a while, but eventually switched to “Two of Us” by The Beatles as they drove into Sam’s neighborhood. Sam was acting strange. Almost as if he was hiding something. He should know, Bee was hiding something too…

“…Say hello to oblivion!” Bumblebee stood frozen in place as Barricade’s missile launcher fired directly at him. A blur shot in front of the yellow robot, pushing him to the side. The explosion blasted Bumblebee back until he skidded to a halt in the dirt and gravel. The young autobot was surprised to see his body mostly intact, the blast should have killed him. Then he saw Optimus laying still on his back. “Oh Primus, no!”
Bumblebee ran to his leader and crouched over him. Optimus had his chest almost completely blown away, the faint glow of his spark pulsing behind singed metal. Bumblebee was in shock. His hands wavered over his motionless leader, but he didn’t know what to do. So he cried. He let out a loud whine of sadness, just as Barricade’s laughter stabbed the air.
“Oh this is just wonderful! Optimus Prime tries to save the day, but ends up getting a missile to the chest. You see, you Autobots are fools. You throw yourselves into battle and end up blowing yourselves to pieces!”
Bumblebee huddled close to Optimus. “Optimus…why?” Bumblebee saw the other bot’s optics flicker on, staring up at the yellow form above him. “I needed to protect the one most precious to me…” his voice was scratched by static, “…you do the same, Bumblebee.” His optics dimmed once again as Optimus went into automatic shutdown, but his spark was still pulsing weakly in his chest.
“Out of the way sparkling” Barricade approached the fallen Autobot and aimed his arm gun directly at his spark. “I’m going to finish him off once and for all.”
“NO!” Bumblebee leapt up in a furious rage and tackled Barricade to the ground. The Decepticon quickly pushed the smaller bot off of him and started firing missiles wildly into the air, which Bumblebee easily dodged. As Barricade got back up, Bumblebee rushed forward and pushed him into a huge mass of industrial electric wires. “You will not hurt my loved ones anymore!” Sparks of electricity shot through the air as Bumblebee started savagely ripping Barricade apart. The Decepticon tried desperately to escape, but was caught and tangled in the wires that started to shock and stun him with surges of energy. When the last pieces of Barricade’s armor were torn off, exposing the weak mechanics underneath, Bumblebee transformed both of his arms into energy guns. “No more…” He held both guns to the center of Barricade’s chest and fired at full force. The energy ripped through Barricade, causing him to scream out in agony, and the surrounding electrical currents to explode in a flurry of light. Sparks fell around Bumblebee as Barricade’s rigid body fell back into the cradle of wires, hanging awkwardly as a few final sparks continued to trickle and pop out of the currents.
A sputtering engine hummed loudly in the air as Mikaela’s beat up ford approached the scene. “Bee!” The yellow autobot slowly calmed down from his rage, and turned to see Mikaela stepping out of an old truck. She spotted Optimus laying on the side of the street and gasped. “Oh God, Optimus! What happened?!”
“Barricade” Bee said in a cold and simple tone, and indicated the mangled Decepticon behind him. The young bot took one last look at the remains before making his way over to Optimus. But as he started walking, he noticed another human getting out of Mikaela’s truck. His optics grew bight and his antennae perked up. “Sam!”
Bee started to run to his friend, but slowly came to a stop. The memories of earlier that night came flooding back to him, and his antennae lowered.
The two friends stood silently apart, waiting for something, anything, to happen.
“Sam…I –”
“Bee, I’m so sorry –”
“No. Sam, it’s okay. I would hate me too. I’m sorry…if you don’t want to be friends anymore, I understand.” Bee’s optics fell to the ground.
“Bee, what are you talking about?”
The young bot shifted uncomfortably, “Earlier tonight, I…kissed you…” Sam laughed, and Bee was sure that if he could blush, his armor would be glowing red. “No Bee. I was the one that kissed you.”
Bee looked back up to his charge. “But…you ran away…and you looked so scared…”
“That’s because I was scared. Scared of what you would think of me. I was afraid you’d hate me…” Bee approached Sam hesitantly, restraining himself. “I could never hate you Sam.” Sam smiled at the yellow bot. “I know that now.”
Sam walked up to his friend, his eyes beginning to water. Bee knelt down to his human and caressed his cheek with a gentle finger. Tears started to trickle slowly down Sam’s face, and Bee easily wiped them away. Sam looked into the bright blue optics above him, and his chest tightened. “I love you Bee.”
“I love you too Sam.” It was so easy for them to say now. Maybe because they finally knew what love felt like. And it felt wonderful.
Bee outstretched his hand, allowing Sam to climb on, and brought him up to his face. Sam could hear the whirring of Bee’s gears as the Autobot thought. “Are you sure you want this Sam?” Sam rolled his eyes, smiling, then leaned in and kissed Bee’s vocalizer. Bee’s car door wings shot up in surprise. Sam could feel the warmth against his lips, then regretfully pulled away, “What do you think?”
Bee was silent for a while, then spoke. “I think I need some more proof.”
Sam chuckled and leaned in for another kiss, his hands stroking the metal on Bee’s face. Bee made sort of a sighing sound, and pulled his human closer to him. All he needed was Sam. All they needed was each other.
Mikaela stood back and watched the touching moment. “They’re a perfect pair aren’t they?” Mikaela jumped at the low rumbling voice of Optimus behind her. “Oh my god, Optimus! We need to get you some help-”
“Don’t worry about me Mikaela. I’ve had worse injuries in battle.” Optimus situated himself into a comfortable sitting position. “I’m glad that they’re both happy.” Mikaela took her worried eyes away from Optimus to see Sam and Bee holding on to each other like there was nothing else in the world. “Me too…” Mikaela returned her gaze to the other Autobot, “but what about you?” Optimus smiled, his optics still focused on the pair before him. “Don’t worry, I’ll be fine. And Bee knows it…” Mikaela didn’t quite understand what Optimus meant by that, but nodded in silent acknowledgement.
Ironhide and Ratchet returned from their scouting mission that same night after receiving a distress call from Optimus, and Captain Lennox arrived with a few men from the military and took Barricade’s body away for research. Before he knew it, Sam realized that it was almost morning already. Well, it didn’t matter, it was Saturday now…he just needed some rest. While he sat alone in the front seat of Bee’s cabin, his guardian driving them back to Sam’s place, he drifted off to sleep, exhausted from everything that had happened.
And I hate that I love you so
And I hate how much I love you boy
I can't stand how much I need you (can't stand how much I need you)
And I hate how much I love you boy
But I just can't let you go (but I just can't let you go no..)
And I hate that I love you so
Sam smiled as the soothing lyrics and rumbling engine lulled him to sleep.

Sam sighed as he lay underneath the cool shade of a nearby palm tree. The day was hot and bright; the sky a vibrant blue, with not a cloud in sight. The waves crashed against the rocks surrounding the sandy secluded beach, and the cool sea air refreshed Sam’s lungs. A few seagulls flew overhead.
Sam had decided it was time for a vacation. So he invited everyone to a secluded beach that Bee and him had found on their day out in California. Mikaela lay in the sun, relaxing on a beach towel and covered in tanning oil. Will Lennox, his wife, and his daughter were making little castles in the sand. Ratchet stood on a rocky peninsula and cautiously watched Bee as he stepped into the water.
“Bumblebee, I do not think that is a very good idea.” Ratchet stated as the youngest mech proceeded to wade into the warm ocean waters. “Ratchet, you heard Ironhide himself say that we can survive in water. He crash landed in a pool when he arrived at Earth.” Ratchet kept a careful watch on Bumblebee as he dove deeper into the ocean.
“I think Bee’s got the right idea!” Ratchet turned just in time to see Ironhide running towards him, arms outstretched. But before he could get out of harm’s way, the weapons specialist tackled the medic into the water. The enormous splash that followed caused a huge set of waves to carry Bee back towards the sandy shore. As he surfed, “Hawaii Five-O” began to play from his chest, making Sam laugh happily at the sight.
Optimus smirked, watching the spectacle beside Sam. He was also glad to have a day out. A medical bay is no place for a leader, and after much argument with Ratchet, he was able to join the others, his injured chest simply welded shut with scrap metal.
The giant waves soon crashed over the smallest autobot, drowning out the music and causing both Sam and Optimus to pause in worried anticipation. But soon enough, a yellow head popped out of the water, letting them breathe a sigh of relief.
“Optimus, you should come out and play!” Bumblebee waved to his leader. “I’m fine here in the shade, thank you” Optimus smiled back. “What about you Sam?” The human shook his head, “Nah, I’ll just relax here with the big guy.” Bee’s wings and antennae drooped, but perked back up when he was suddenly tackled back into the water. He swam back up to see Ratchet giggling with satisfaction. “Ratchet! You want to have fun too?”
That hit a nerve in Ratchet’s systems. “Why does everyone think I don’t want to have fun!? I’m not as stuck up as you assume! I enjoy the occasional romp just as much as any other bot--!” A wave of water splashed over the ranting medic. “Damn it Bumblebee, I am venting my feelings!” Another wave splashed Ratchet. There was a tense silence. Then the medic laughed. The two autobots splashed each other gleefully, laughing as Ironhide snuck up behind Ratchet and tackled him.
“It’s like watching a bunch of little puppies” Mikaela commented aloud, “…immature mechanical puppies.” Sam and Optimus nodded in agreement. The branches of the palm tree fluttered lazily in the breeze, creating swaying shadows that danced over Sam and Optimus. A few more seagulls flew overhead. The Lennox family finally completed their palace of sand, and proudly stuck a little flag on top, cheering at its completion. Waves continued to crash against the rocky coves…
“Sam…” The human looked up at Optimus. The Autobot leader was staring off at the shimmering blue water. “Please take care of Bumblebee.” Sam was a bit taken aback by the sudden remark, his cheeks flushing a bit, but answered just the same, “I will.” He almost didn’t notice Bee trudging up the sandy shore, still dripping wet.
When you're on a holiday
You can't find the words to say
All the things that come to you
And I wanna feel it too
The relaxing tunes of “Island in the Sun” floated through the balmy air, and Sam found himself hypnotized by Bee’s wet yellow armor shining in the sun. He slowly got up and stepped barefoot into the hot sand. It wasn’t hot enough to sting, but it warmed Sam as he walked out into the light. Bee leaned down to his human, holding out an open hand. Sam stepped onto the warm but damp black leather and sat himself down cross-legged while Bee lifted him up to his face.
On an island in the sun
We'll be playing and having fun
And it makes me feel so fine
I can't control my brain
Sam smoothed his hands over Bee’s warm armor, wiping away the salty water and feeling the mech shiver beneath his touch. He still had that look though…that “are you sure you want this” look…but Sam always responded the same. He tenderly kissed Bee’s vocalizer, and Bee promptly relaxed, letting himself fall into this feeling…this wonderful feeling…
We'll run away together
We'll spend some time forever
We'll never feel bad anymore
This feeling of love.
We'll never feel bad anymore
No no
We'll never feel bad anymore
END
A/N: So glad I finished! This chapter just kept stretching on and on, and I don't know why I had that epilouge (so corny!), but it just popped into my head at the last second. Anyway, this was pretty fun to write, but I'll probably be off of SamBee for a while (I have other fanbases to attend to)...I hope that people liked this story!
