“Thanks for your help Mikaela.” Sam and his ex stood the doorway of Mikaela’s house. “No problem Sam. Just take good care of Bee, ‘kay?” Sam nodded happily, “I will.” He waved goodbye to Mikaela and set off to his house, where he last saw Bee. He had so much to tell him. First he needed to say he was sorry for running away. Then he would say that he loved Bee. He loved everything about him. He loved his sleek armor. He loved his voice. He loved his playful curiosity. It only took him this long to realize that he couldn’t live without Bee, and he would do anything to be with him…Bee was Sam’s protector…but Sam was also Bee’s protector…

“I thought I killed you.” Bumblebee said smugly as he dodged another missile, which exploded on the side of an abandoned warehouse. “Not quite little one…before he left, Starscream had me repaired and upgraded. I’ve never felt more alive, especially with my new friends…” Barricade held up his right arm and caressed the missile launcher on top of it.

Bumblebee just laughed. “Like you have any friends…” Bumblebee growled and barked out, “Shut up! I don’t want to listen to your wit today, I have a job to do. As soon as I’m done tearing you to shreds, I’m going to find that annoying human of yours and obliterate him!” Bumblebee’s playful tone vanished, replaced by serious worry. “Don’t you dare hurt Sam. I won’t let you!” Barricade smirked, “Oh…it seems I’ve hit a nerve. Tell me, what does that filthy flesh bag mean to you? I bet you just love him don’t you…”

Bumblebee stood still, and completely froze at the word “love”. Barricade waited for a comeback, but when he didn’t get one, he let out a loud maniacal laugh. “I can’t believe it! You’ve fallen in love with a human! You Autobots are disgusting!” Barricade continued to laugh while Bumblebee got lost in his own shame. When the decepticon finally came down from his high, he pointed his missile launcher directly at Bumblebee’s head.

“You slagging piece of filth…why don’t you just kill yourself and save me the trouble? You’re a disgrace to Cybertonians everywhere! An abomination! And now…you will die!” Barricade yelled out the last few words as his missile launcher hummed to life. Bumblebee waited anxiously for it all to end. Maybe Barricade was right. Maybe he did deserve to die…

Sam ran to his backyard and found it empty. He searched through the dark yard and found no trace of Bee anywhere. Damn. Sam kneeled sunk into the grass. Bee was probably just as confused and lost as he was. If only Sam hadn’t run away from his feelings, he’d still be with him…his Bee. Where could he have gone?

Optimus. Sam stood up, ready to find the Autobot leader, when he realized…he didn’t know where Optimus was either. And he didn’t have a car. Shit. Sam kicked the grass and grabbed his hair in frustration. Why did everything have to be so difficult?

An engine revved nearby, and Sam’s head shot up in excitement. He was disappointed, but surprised to see Mikaela in an old and beat up Ford truck. Dirt and mud was caked onto the bottom and the sides of the baby blue car, and it was rusted in so many places, you’d think the car was originally brown. Sam walked over to the monstrosity. “Where did you get that, at a junkyard?”

Mikaela smiled. “Actually, yes. I needed a car to get around after we split up, so I fixed up this old beauty.” Sam knew that this rumbling mess was far from beautiful. “This brings new meaning to the term ‘grease monkey’…” Mikaela frowned a bit. “Just get in.”

Sam reluctantly climbed into the passenger’s seat of the aging car and paused, taking note of the torn leather seats and musty smelling cabin. “She won’t bite Sam. Come on.” Sam finished climbing in and closed the door with a loud metallic ‘clap’. He looked around the car and smiled awkwardly, “…homey.” Mikaela ignored the dripping sarcasm. “I wanted to check up on you guys to see how things were going…”, she looked out into the empty backyard, “…and I don’t think you guys are playing hide-and-seek. So, do you wanna go look for him?”

Sam quickly nodded at the suggestion. He wanted to find Bee more than anything right now. As they pulled away from Sam’s house, Sam couldn’t help but think how weird it felt to be in another car…without Bee…

- - - - - - - - - - - -

The orange was quickly disappearing from the clouds in the sky, changing to pinks and reds as the sun sank lower behind the horizon. Sam lay back in the driver’s seat, relaxing and listening to Celine Dion. He didn’t care if it wasn’t manly. It was damn relaxing. And it gave Sam time to think about things…like the fact that he was falling…hard…for his best friend…his car…

He didn’t know what exactly he loved about Bee. It could have been his bravery, his complete devotion to his loved ones, that made Sam swoon. It may have been his body, Bee’s sleek yellow armor and muscular form of metal machinery, that made Sam melt. Then again, maybe it was Bee’s innocence, his pure intentions and curiosity of the world around him, that made Sam’s heart ache.

“Sam…” The teen blinked at the sound of his name. “My thermal readings indicate that your body temperature has greatly increased. Are you feeling sick?” Sam blinked again, then shook his head. “No Bee, I’m fine.” But that was a lie. Sam was sick alright…lovesick for his car/robot/best friend…

However, Sam was certain that he was mentally sick as well. He knew that guys naturally thought cars were a turn on, but this was ridiculous. Sex with a car? Robo-sex? Sam was a real geek freak. How could he even think about Bee like that? Thinking of sex with his best friend…Bee’s huge form caressing Sam as he writhed under his grasp. Moans escaping his lips as an energy embraced him and pulled Sam closer to release. Being surrounded by ecstasy…Bee calling out his name…

“…Sam…Sam.” Sam’s thoughts fluttered back to the driver’s seat of his Camaro. “What is it Bee?” he asked in a slightly breathy voice. “Well…it’s just that your body is…acting strange…It has been releasing an unusually great amount of hormones.” At that moment, Sam noticed that his jeans were very tight. Damn his teenage body. “I’m okay Bee…it’s just…” Sam’s face turned red in embarrassment. How could he explain this to Bee, “…natural.”

The radio dialed in to different stations until Information Society filled the car.

I wanna know what you're thinking.
There are some things you can't hide.
I wanna know what you're feeling.

Sam blushed hotly at the lyrics. “It’s nothing Bee, really.” God he felt so guilty. Sam didn’t like distancing himself from his friend. Soon. Sam decided he would tell Bee soon. At least then he won’t have to keep lying to Bee…and himself.

Bee was silent for a while, but eventually switched to “Two of Us” by The Beatles as they drove into Sam’s neighborhood. Sam was acting strange. Almost as if he was hiding something. He should know, Bee was hiding something too…

- - - - - - - - - - - -

“…Say hello to oblivion!” Bumblebee stood frozen in place as Barricade’s missile launcher fired directly at him. A blur shot in front of the yellow robot, pushing him to the side. The explosion blasted Bumblebee back until he skidded to a halt in the dirt and gravel. The young autobot was surprised to see his body mostly intact, the blast should have killed him. Then he saw Optimus laying still on his back. “Oh Primus, no!”

Bumblebee ran to his leader and crouched over him. Optimus had his chest almost completely blown away, the faint glow of his spark pulsing behind singed metal. Bumblebee was in shock. His hands wavered over his motionless leader, but he didn’t know what to do. So he cried. He let out a loud whine of sadness, just as Barricade’s laughter stabbed the air.

“Oh this is just wonderful! Optimus Prime tries to save the day, but ends up getting a missile to the chest. You see, you Autobots are fools. You throw yourselves into battle and end up blowing yourselves to pieces!”

Bumblebee huddled close to Optimus. “Optimus…why?” Bumblebee saw the other bot’s optics flicker on, staring up at the yellow form above him. “I needed to protect the one most precious to me…” his voice was scratched by static, “…you do the same, Bumblebee.” His optics dimmed once again as Optimus went into automatic shutdown, but his spark was still pulsing weakly in his chest.

“Out of the way sparkling” Barricade approached the fallen Autobot and aimed his arm gun directly at his spark. “I’m going to finish him off once and for all.”

“NO!” Bumblebee leapt up in a furious rage and tackled Barricade to the ground. The Decepticon quickly pushed the smaller bot off of him and started firing missiles wildly into the air, which Bumblebee easily dodged. As Barricade got back up, Bumblebee rushed forward and pushed him into a huge mass of industrial electric wires. “You will not hurt my loved ones anymore!” Sparks of electricity shot through the air as Bumblebee started savagely ripping Barricade apart. The Decepticon tried desperately to escape, but was caught and tangled in the wires that started to shock and stun him with surges of energy. When the last pieces of Barricade’s armor were torn off, exposing the weak mechanics underneath, Bumblebee transformed both of his arms into energy guns. “No more…” He held both guns to the center of Barricade’s chest and fired at full force. The energy ripped through Barricade, causing him to scream out in agony, and the surrounding electrical currents to explode in a flurry of light. Sparks fell around Bumblebee as Barricade’s rigid body fell back into the cradle of wires, hanging awkwardly as a few final sparks continued to trickle and pop out of the currents.

A sputtering engine hummed loudly in the air as Mikaela’s beat up ford approached the scene. “Bee!” The yellow autobot slowly calmed down from his rage, and turned to see Mikaela stepping out of an old truck. She spotted Optimus laying on the side of the street and gasped. “Oh God, Optimus! What happened?!”

“Barricade” Bee said in a cold and simple tone, and indicated the mangled Decepticon behind him. The young bot took one last look at the remains before making his way over to Optimus. But as he started walking, he noticed another human getting out of Mikaela’s truck. His optics grew bight and his antennae perked up. “Sam!”

Bee started to run to his friend, but slowly came to a stop. The memories of earlier that night came flooding back to him, and his antennae lowered.

The two friends stood silently apart, waiting for something, anything, to happen.
“Sam…I –”

“Bee, I’m so sorry –”

“No. Sam, it’s okay. I would hate me too. I’m sorry…if you don’t want to be friends anymore, I understand.” Bee’s optics fell to the ground.

“Bee, what are you talking about?”

The young bot shifted uncomfortably, “Earlier tonight, I…kissed you…” Sam laughed, and Bee was sure that if he could blush, his armor would be glowing red. “No Bee. I was the one that kissed you.”

Bee looked back up to his charge. “But…you ran away…and you looked so scared…”

“That’s because I was scared. Scared of what you would think of me. I was afraid you’d hate me…” Bee approached Sam hesitantly, restraining himself. “I could never hate you Sam.” Sam smiled at the yellow bot. “I know that now.”

Sam walked up to his friend, his eyes beginning to water. Bee knelt down to his human and caressed his cheek with a gentle finger. Tears started to trickle slowly down Sam’s face, and Bee easily wiped them away. Sam looked into the bright blue optics above him, and his chest tightened. “I love you Bee.”

“I love you too Sam.” It was so easy for them to say now. Maybe because they finally knew what love felt like. And it felt wonderful.

Bee outstretched his hand, allowing Sam to climb on, and brought him up to his face. Sam could hear the whirring of Bee’s gears as the Autobot thought. “Are you sure you want this Sam?” Sam rolled his eyes, smiling, then leaned in and kissed Bee’s vocalizer. Bee’s car door wings shot up in surprise. Sam could feel the warmth against his lips, then regretfully pulled away, “What do you think?”

Bee was silent for a while, then spoke. “I think I need some more proof.”

Sam chuckled and leaned in for another kiss, his hands stroking the metal on Bee’s face. Bee made sort of a sighing sound, and pulled his human closer to him. All he needed was Sam. All they needed was each other.

Mikaela stood back and watched the touching moment. “They’re a perfect pair aren’t they?” Mikaela jumped at the low rumbling voice of Optimus behind her. “Oh my god, Optimus! We need to get you some help-”

“Don’t worry about me Mikaela. I’ve had worse injuries in battle.” Optimus situated himself into a comfortable sitting position. “I’m glad that they’re both happy.” Mikaela took her worried eyes away from Optimus to see Sam and Bee holding on to each other like there was nothing else in the world. “Me too…” Mikaela returned her gaze to the other Autobot, “but what about you?” Optimus smiled, his optics still focused on the pair before him. “Don’t worry, I’ll be fine. And Bee knows it…” Mikaela didn’t quite understand what Optimus meant by that, but nodded in silent acknowledgement.

Ironhide and Ratchet returned from their scouting mission that same night after receiving a distress call from Optimus, and Captain Lennox arrived with a few men from the military and took Barricade’s body away for research. Before he knew it, Sam realized that it was almost morning already. Well, it didn’t matter, it was Saturday now…he just needed some rest. While he sat alone in the front seat of Bee’s cabin, his guardian driving them back to Sam’s place, he drifted off to sleep, exhausted from everything that had happened.

And I hate that I love you so
And I hate how much I love you boy
I can't stand how much I need you (can't stand how much I need you)
And I hate how much I love you boy
But I just can't let you go (but I just can't let you go no..)
And I hate that I love you so

Sam smiled as the soothing lyrics and rumbling engine lulled him to sleep.

Sam sighed as he lay underneath the cool shade of a nearby palm tree. The day was hot and bright; the sky a vibrant blue, with not a cloud in sight. The waves crashed against the rocks surrounding the sandy secluded beach, and the cool sea air refreshed Sam’s lungs. A few seagulls flew overhead.

Sam had decided it was time for a vacation. So he invited everyone to a secluded beach that Bee and him had found on their day out in California. Mikaela lay in the sun, relaxing on a beach towel and covered in tanning oil. Will Lennox, his wife, and his daughter were making little castles in the sand. Ratchet stood on a rocky peninsula and cautiously watched Bee as he stepped into the water.

“Bumblebee, I do not think that is a very good idea.” Ratchet stated as the youngest mech proceeded to wade into the warm ocean waters. “Ratchet, you heard Ironhide himself say that we can survive in water. He crash landed in a pool when he arrived at Earth.” Ratchet kept a careful watch on Bumblebee as he dove deeper into the ocean.

“I think Bee’s got the right idea!” Ratchet turned just in time to see Ironhide running towards him, arms outstretched. But before he could get out of harm’s way, the weapons specialist tackled the medic into the water. The enormous splash that followed caused a huge set of waves to carry Bee back towards the sandy shore. As he surfed, “Hawaii Five-O” began to play from his chest, making Sam laugh happily at the sight.

Optimus smirked, watching the spectacle beside Sam. He was also glad to have a day out. A medical bay is no place for a leader, and after much argument with Ratchet, he was able to join the others, his injured chest simply welded shut with scrap metal.

The giant waves soon crashed over the smallest autobot, drowning out the music and causing both Sam and Optimus to pause in worried anticipation. But soon enough, a yellow head popped out of the water, letting them breathe a sigh of relief.

“Optimus, you should come out and play!” Bumblebee waved to his leader. “I’m fine here in the shade, thank you” Optimus smiled back. “What about you Sam?” The human shook his head, “Nah, I’ll just relax here with the big guy.” Bee’s wings and antennae drooped, but perked back up when he was suddenly tackled back into the water. He swam back up to see Ratchet giggling with satisfaction. “Ratchet! You want to have fun too?”

That hit a nerve in Ratchet’s systems. “Why does everyone think I don’t want to have fun!? I’m not as stuck up as you assume! I enjoy the occasional romp just as much as any other bot--!” A wave of water splashed over the ranting medic. “Damn it Bumblebee, I am venting my feelings!” Another wave splashed Ratchet. There was a tense silence. Then the medic laughed. The two autobots splashed each other gleefully, laughing as Ironhide snuck up behind Ratchet and tackled him.

“It’s like watching a bunch of little puppies” Mikaela commented aloud, “…immature mechanical puppies.” Sam and Optimus nodded in agreement. The branches of the palm tree fluttered lazily in the breeze, creating swaying shadows that danced over Sam and Optimus. A few more seagulls flew overhead. The Lennox family finally completed their palace of sand, and proudly stuck a little flag on top, cheering at its completion. Waves continued to crash against the rocky coves…

“Sam…” The human looked up at Optimus. The Autobot leader was staring off at the shimmering blue water. “Please take care of Bumblebee.” Sam was a bit taken aback by the sudden remark, his cheeks flushing a bit, but answered just the same, “I will.” He almost didn’t notice Bee trudging up the sandy shore, still dripping wet.

When you're on a holiday
You can't find the words to say
All the things that come to you
And I wanna feel it too

The relaxing tunes of “Island in the Sun” floated through the balmy air, and Sam found himself hypnotized by Bee’s wet yellow armor shining in the sun. He slowly got up and stepped barefoot into the hot sand. It wasn’t hot enough to sting, but it warmed Sam as he walked out into the light. Bee leaned down to his human, holding out an open hand. Sam stepped onto the warm but damp black leather and sat himself down cross-legged while Bee lifted him up to his face.

On an island in the sun
We'll be playing and having fun
And it makes me feel so fine
I can't control my brain

Sam smoothed his hands over Bee’s warm armor, wiping away the salty water and feeling the mech shiver beneath his touch. He still had that look though…that “are you sure you want this” look…but Sam always responded the same. He tenderly kissed Bee’s vocalizer, and Bee promptly relaxed, letting himself fall into this feeling…this wonderful feeling…

We'll run away together
We'll spend some time forever
We'll never feel bad anymore

This feeling of love.

We'll never feel bad anymore
No no
We'll never feel bad anymore

END

A/N: So glad I finished! This chapter just kept stretching on and on, and I don't know why I had that epilouge (so corny!), but it just popped into my head at the last second. Anyway, this was pretty fun to write, but I'll probably be off of SamBee for a while (I have other fanbases to attend to)...I hope that people liked this story!

Title: What is Love?
Rating: PG
Fandom: Transformers
Pairing: SamBee
Genre: Angst with some Fluff
Summary: Sam and Bee try to find the meaning of love. A familiar enemy appears.

(Part 4)

* * * * * * * * * * * *

Mikaela wrapped a ragged blanket around Sam and headed back into the kitchen, leaving Sam to look around the familiar cozy living room. It was messy and cluttered, the wallpaper was fading in places, and the un-matching styles of furniture clashed with each other. Design-wise, it was a nightmare, yet there was a warm inviting feeling that always seemed to calm him.

Mikaela walked back over to Sam, holding a metal tray with a green porcelain tea set and an oven mitt. She sunk down into the big fluffy couch next to him, setting the tray onto a low dark wood coffee table and carefully pouring some green tea into a cup. When Mikaela was finished, she put on the oven mitt and picked up the steaming cup, blowing away the steam as she handed it to Sam. “Careful, it’s really hot.” Sam pulled his hands under the blanket Mikaela had given him and grabbed the cup, “…Thanks.”

The two teenagers sat in empty silence as Sam drank his tea, taking small sips so he wouldn’t burn his tongue. After a while, Mikaela had enough awkwardness, “…So what’s the matter Sam? You look like shit…” Damn. Not the best way to ease awkwardness. But Sam had to admit, he did look terrible; his eyes were still pretty red and puffy from crying, and his face was a bit pale. “I’m sorry I bothered you ‘Kaela…M-Mikaela, sorry…I just don’t know what to do and I’m just really confused right now…” Mikaela frowned a bit in confusion herself. “Well Sam, you can tell me what’s wrong…” Sam didn’t think so…it was very wrong…too wrong for him to even say. He loved his friend Bee…a robot…a guy robot! And he kissed him! Dammit, Sam needed to stop thinking about it. He needed to stop thinking about how wonderful Bee was, how heroic he was in battle, how cute he looked while tumbling through wheat fields in the sun…Shit. Sam needed to distract himself. He looked over to his ex.

“Why did you leave me?” Mikaela was startled by the sudden question, then frowned. “I already told you, I couldn’t handle being a pro-” “Yeah, yeah, ‘protector of the world’. I’ve heard that one. But that’s not why you left me, is it? It was me. I wasn’t good enough. I saved the whole fucking world and I still wasn’t good enough!” Mikaela closed her eyes in frustration. “Look…if you’re just here to hassle me about leaving you, get out now. I already told you, I couldn’t handle it. In case you haven’t noticed Sam, I’m not the most responsible person. My juvie record proves…proved it!” Mikaela slumped back into the couch, folding her arms with irritation. Sam looked into his green tea. If only things could go back to the way they were…

- - - - - - - - - - - -

It was wrong of him to say that…Bumblebee was too young, and they had been friends for thousands of years on Cybertron…besides, Bumblebee loved Sam, not him.

Bumblebee was the first to move. He slowly moved toward Optimus, climbing up a pile of scrap metal until he was a bit higher up. Then he calmly reached up and pressed his hand onto his leader’s chest. Optimus let out a gasp at the simple contact. His spark was going wild. Bumblebee slowly smoothed his hand over the flaming red and blue chest, making Optimus quiver under his touch as he explored his body. It felt amazing to command Optimus like this, under his control.

Optimus couldn’t restrain himself. He had been waiting for this for far too long, and his spark was so overpowering. His chest slid open against his will, and Bumblebee removed his hand to see the spark in front of him. It was huge, blazing in blue and white light, and pulsing with pure energy, begging to be touched.

Bumblebee lifted his hand and raised it up to the light. Optimus whimpered. Bumblebee had never heard Optimus whimper before, it was exciting to see this side of his leader, and he continued moving his hand closer to the glowing spark. Meanwhile, Optimus was fighting an inner battle. He loved Bumblebee, but he couldn’t let him do this, something he would later regret. Bumblebee loved Sam…

Before Bumblebee could touch the spark, Optimus slid his chest shut and quickly grabbed Bumblebee’s arm. “…Please…” His voice begged Bumblebee to stop, but the younger autobot defiantly shook his arm free of Optimus’s grasp. “Why are you stopping me? I thought this is what you wanted…” His voice was low and quiet, and Optimus couldn’t deny that Bumblebee is all he wanted, “…but it’s not what you want, Bumblebee.”

“How do you know what I want? How do you know what’s best for me? I just want to be normal!” Bumblebee tried reaching up for Optimus’s chest again, but the larger autobot grabbed his am again. This time though, he pulled the smaller autobot into a hug. Bumblebee stood still, surprised by the powerful embrace.

“Bumblebee…” his voice was low with sadness, “you can’t run away from your feelings. You love Sam, and I know that deep down he loves you too…” Bumblebee leaned his head down and looked to the ground, “…but he ran away…that terrible look on his face, it was fear…” Optimus held Bumblebee close to him. “You have to talk to him. Whatever happened between you two needs to be resolved. Sam cares about you, probably more than anything. You know that…” Bumblebee seemed to calm down and leaned into the awkward hug. “You must learn to accept yourself for who you are. Trust your spark Bumblebee.”

Bumblebee looked up at his leader, gazing into the optics above him. “Do you trust your spark, Optimus?” The larger autobot was a bit taken aback by the question, but smiled softly. “…Yes…I do.” Bumblebee looked down in hesitation, then looked up again, “Does it hurt?” Optimus looked at the autobot in his arms, examining him over. He was so small, so young and innocent, he loved him…and yet he knew that it would never happen, they both knew. “A little bit…but as long as you’re happy I’m happy.”

Bumblebee stayed fixated on his leader. Optimus had done so much for him, and now this. “Thank you.” Bumblebee reluctantly let go of the larger autobot. Somehow, he felt safer when he was with Optimus. But he had to find Sam…he had to tell him how he felt. He was just about to transform, but stopped and looked at Optimus. His leader stood there, proud and alone like always. Bumblebee walked up, stretched onto the tips of his feet, and placed a kiss on the side of Optimus’s face. Optimus froze. As soon as it had happened, Bumblebee transformed into a Camaro and sped out of the junkyard. Optimus placed a hand on his cheek where Bumblebee’s vocalizer had pecked him. Then he smiled. He felt his spark flutter, but it wasn’t painful anymore. Bumblebee was happy, and that’s all that mattered.

- - - - - - - - - - - -

She couldn’t breathe. Mikaela struggled to get free, pushing at the other teen. Finally her lips broke away from Sam and she gasped for breath. “Sam, I think you forgot how to kiss. I need oxygen remember?” Sam leaned down and hid his face in his hands, frustrated and embarrassed. “Dammit…I can’t even kiss humans anymore!” Mikaela’s brow furrowed in confusion. “What are you talking about? Sam, what happened?”

Sam sighed into his hands. He didn’t need this. But he was seriously about to explode if he didn’t tell someone. Besides, if Mikaela really loved him, she’d understand. What was he thinking? She’d freak! It might have been okay if he was just gay…but gay for a giant robot? His best friend and his car? Sam looked up from his hands to see that Mikaela was giving him a confused look and still waiting for an answer. Well, dying now would probably be a pretty good option, but Sam was willing to give himself a chance.

Sam cleared his throat. “I…I kissed Bee…” Mikaela blinked. Sam waited anxiously for a response. “…You kissed your car?” Sam shook his head, “No. I mean, I kissed his autobot form, and I liked it…I love him.” Mikaela’s eyes widened in shock and her mouth hung open. She quickly looked away from Sam and towards the floral wall across the room. Sam looked away too, surprised that he had just revealed his deepest darkest secret. Would she ever talk to him again? Would she tell others? Would his parents find out? The consequences flashed through Sam’s mind until Mikaela made a small sound, “….oh.” Sam looked at Mikaela. “Oh? That’s all you have to say, ‘oh’?” Mikaela breathed deeply and looked at Sam without emotion. “How long?” It took a moment for Sam to register what she had asked. “…since Mission City.” Mikaela let out an exasperated sigh and placed two fingers on each of her temples, rubbing them softly as she looked down at the ground. “It just keeps getting more complicated with you, doesn’t it?” Sam just nodded, not willing to answer. He was expecting a panicked outburst…maybe Mikaela understood…

“Look, Sam, I’m being about as calm and understanding as I possibly can about this, and I don’t want to upset you by saying that is the weirdest thing I’ve ever heard…but that is seriously the weirdest thing I’ve ever heard…” Mikaela saw Sam’s head hand lower in shame, so she tried keeping things positive. “…but, I guess you are pretty weird to begin with.” Okay, not the best picker-upper.

“It’s okay Mikaela, you don’t have to like me…I’m a freak.” Mikaela scooted closer to Sam and placed a hand on his back, tying to console him. “No, no, Sam. I still like you. You’re a great guy, and amazingly brave. I may not have intense feelings for you, but you’re still my friend, even if you are weird.” Those words warmed Sam’s heart. He had told Mikaela…and she was okay with it! “Thanks. You don’t know how much that means to me.” Maybe things could be worked out after all…

Mikaela smiled and leaned in to hug Sam. “Good, I’m glad.” Sam hugged Mikaela back and smiled too. It felt like so long since they last hugged, and in Sam’s opinion, this was the best one. They stayed in each other’s arms for a little while longer until Mikaela finally untangled themselves. “There, all better? And see? You’re cute when you smile!” Sam blushed a bit and looked away in embarrassment. “So…why were you sad anyway?” Sam’s smile faltered and fell, and his eyes found sudden interest in a coffee stain on the couch. “I…I told you I kissed Bee, right?” Sam could see Mikaela nodding at the edge of his vision. “Well, I’m not sure that he wanted to…”

“What makes you think that?”

“I’m a human Mikaela! Why would he want me? He said he loved me, but I don’t think he knows what love really is. He’s my friend, and that’s all he’s ever going to be…” Mikaela thought for a moment. “Well, he said he loved you…and then he let you kiss him…doesn’t that mean anything?”

“But what if he was just curious? What if he doesn’t really want it?” Mikaela placed a hand on her friend’s shoulder. “Sam, you won’t know what he wants until you talk to him. I don’t know what’s going on between you two, but I’m sure that Bee is just as confused as you are. And he’s probably worried sick wondering where you are…” Sam gasped inwardly. Shit, he forgot about Bee! How could he just leave him like that? Was he really that stupid and careless?

“Sam…” Sam’s attention was brought back to Mikaela, who was staring him deep in the eyes. “You really love him, don’t you?” Sam’s panicking stopped. He thought about Bee. His bright yellow armor shining in the sun. Sam thought back to earlier today, how perfect things were, just the two of them…

He thought about this afternoon…

- - - - - - - - - - - -

The sun shined brilliantly above them, animating white puffy clouds in the vibrant blue sky. “I see a turtle.”

“Really? Where?” Sam squinted as Bee pointed up at the sky. “There, approximately five degrees due north……next to the bunny rabbit.”

”Oh! Now I see it! You’re getting better at this Bee!” Clawfinger lyrics emitted from Bee’s chest: I’m the biggest, the best, better than the rest, better than the rest... The two friends were laying side by side on a large grassy hill, gazing up at the infinitely expansive sky. “Hey Bee?”

“Yes Sam?” There was a short pause before Sam continued. “How long do you guys live?” Bee looked over at the human beside him, who was now also looking at him eagerly. Then the autobot turned back to the sky. “We do not die from age Sam, only from battle.” Sam took a moment for the information to sink in, looking back at the changing white shapes above him. “…so how long have you been alive so far?”

“I’m not entirely sure, but I would estimate it has been approximately 20,000 years since I was created.” Sam stayed silent again. 20,000 years…and Bee was still the youngest autobot in the group. “What’s it like to live that long?” The autobot shrugged. “Time doesn’t really matter to us. It can be slow, or fast, or just at a standstill…occasionally I forget that time even exists…”

“Will you forget me?” Bee looked back at Sam. His spark flickered when he realized…Sam wouldn’t last forever. He was a human, and humans were very fragile…they didn’t last long, and soon enough Sam would be gone. Bee would never see him again. But just having Sam near him pushed those terrible thoughts away. Tomorrow didn’t matter…all that mattered was now. Bee’s spark flickered again as he scooted closer to his human, huddling over him and protecting him from the world. “I will never forget you Sam…never…”

- - - - - - - - - - - -

Suddenly, an explosion erupted with a deafening boom, and a bright orange glow illuminated the dark road. Bee was shaken from his databanks as he skidded to a stop on the asphalt.

Bee was on the way to Sam’s house, and was currently in the industrial district, only a few miles away. There was a large fire off the side of the road, illuminating a small crater of destroyed concrete surrounded by torn and damaged metal fences. Bee drove carefully towards the scene, going over rubble and twisted metal as he approached the fire.

“Well, well…if it isn’t the littlest autobot…”Bumblebee quickly transformed and turned away from the fire, searching for the source of the voice. “Who are you? Show yourself!”

“Very well…” Bumblebee noticed a small whistling noise, and it seemed to be getting louder. He turned around just in time to see a missile heading directly for him. The autobot quickly jumped away before the missile hit the ground where he stood, the force of the blast propelling him into a pyramid of concrete tubes. The tubes crumbled and toppled to the ground, and Bumblebee looked up from the wreckage to see a large figure walking towards him. A Decepticon. “It’s nice to see you again…” Bumblebee looked up at the fiery silhouette in front of him. “…Barricade.”

A/N: Ack! I'm stuck on Part 5! This may take a while. Scratch that, it will (quarter finals and holidays are coming up). I'm not good with action either. But I do have a few more surprises in store! Specifically a last minute pairing. Anyway, hoped you liked this chapter!

Sam froze. Did Bee really just…? No, it was only another one of his dreams…it had to be. Every time, Bee would tell Sam that he loved him, and then Sam would wake up. It could never be real, Sam always told himself that…

“I love you too, Bee…” He wasn’t sure how he had fallen asleep, but Sam knew that he would make the most of what he had right now. Bee was currently standing still in silence, but as Sam approached him, he slowly sat down and began scrambling backwards using his arms and legs. He couldn’t speak…this wasn’t happening…this wasn’t real…

“Bee, please lay down…” The young autobot unconsciously did as he was told, bringing his elbows behind him and leaning down onto them. Sam walked up beside Bee, then climbed onto his chest. Bee’s spark pulsed, sending a shiver through his gears and wiring. He was frozen, staring at his human friend as he continued to walk up to him, as if in a trance, until…

Sam pressed his lips against Bee’s vocalizer. Bee’s spark ignited in furious passion at the contact. They were kissing. Well, as far as kissing could go between them. It was an awkward kiss, but Bee could clearly feel Sam’s warm wet lips on his sensors, sending his processor into overdrive. A bit of hot steam emitted from Bee’s chest, nearly surrounding Sam as he continued kissing the autobot, letting his hands roam free around Bee’s mechanical face. It was more amazing than Bee had ever thought possible…to feel Sam’s love…to feel so perfect…

Bee leaned back onto one arm and brought a hand up to brush down Sam’s back. He felt the reverberations of a moan escape from Sam’s lips as he continued to stroke his spine. He felt so fragile under his touch…so alive…so responsive…

Bee continued to pet and feel Sam with his hand until his sensors noticed that Sam had stopped kissing him. He looked right at Sam, into his eyes, and noticed sudden confusion.

Sam stood there in a daze. That’s weird. Usually he would wake up by now…Sam continued staring into the glowing blue optics in front of him. He thought back a little bit to determine when exactly he could have fallen asleep. Then his eyes widened. What if…what if he wasn’t asleep? Was he still awake?

Bee noticed the sudden terror that crossed Sam’s face. “Sam, are you alright?” Sam jumped at the sound of Bee’s voice. He slowly began to look around in panic. “Sam?” The teenager was startled once again, and looked back at Bee.

“…Bee?” Sam’s voice almost shivered. “…Is this real?” Bee analyzed the situation again, and checked his CPU, “…Yes”, though his probability drive said otherwise. Sam suddenly jumped down from Bee’s chest. He kept his eyes fixed on the two glowing eyes above him as he slowly back away. “…Sam?” Bee reached out for his friend, but Sam suddenly jumped back, making Bee retract his arm. Sam turned away from Bee. “…I’m sorry.” Sam burst into a sprint and ran into the night, away from his friend, who lay helplessly confused on the ground.

Bee stared at the spot where Sam had ran off from, calculating any possible reasons he could have done so. Then he realized…it was him. He was the reason Sam had ran off. If only he hadn’t been so careless…to reveal his secret to Sam and… make him run off. But then he was struck by another wave of confusion. Why had Sam kissed him? Why did he say that he loved him, and then run away?

From his position, Bee instantly transformed into a Camaro and sped off into darkness.

- - - - - - - - - - - -

“Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid!” Sam walked at a brisk and aggressive pace, wiping the hot salty tears from his eyes. “How could you do that? How could you kiss your best friend?” He quickly turned a corner on the sidewalk. “It can never happen. It will never happen. He needs to…I need to realize…we both need to realize…” Sam let out an infuriating groan of frustration. “Why does my life have to be so complicated? Why can’t I be normal?...” Sam stopped abruptly underneath an orange street light, trying to relax. He looked up into the orange glow, wiping the tears away that heavily blurred his vision. “…Why? Why can’t I be normal?...” His eyes looked down the street to see a familiar house on a dark and seedy street.

- - - - - - - - - - - -

Optimus stretched out across the heap of metal he had made into a makeshift bed. Living in a junkyard had its perks for sure. Not only could the autobots live in secrecy, but they could also use the junk metal to make repairs and create new parts. Plus it was big enough to house plenty of giant robots.

He had just sent the other autobots on a 30-day scouting mission around the planet; they needed to know if other Cybertrons had landed. Starscream was sure to return with more decepticons soon. Optimus stayed behind of course, someone had to watch Bumblebee in case he got into trouble.

The blue and red autobot was just about to settle down and recharge when Bumblebee’s signal sprang up on his radar. Sure enough, he saw a yellow Camaro speeding through the junkyard, weaving around piles of scrap metal and old car parts. As Bumblebee drew near, Optimus stood up formally from the heap of metal he had been relaxing on. The Camaro soon stopped in front of the larger autobot and began to transform. “Is something wrong Bumblebee?” Optimus somehow always knew when there was a problem, Bumblebee noticed as the final stages of his transformation ended. “Sam and I kissed…” Bumblebee made a note to himself not to be so blunt in the future.

Optimus’s optics brightened in revelation, but they soon dimmed as he let out a sigh. “So your feelings were reciprocated?” Bumblebee’s voice strained while he searched for an answer, “…I’m…not sure. That’s why I’m here. But honestly sir, I’m surprised that you’re not furious me…” Bumblebee avoided looking directly at his leader, ashamed of himself. “I could never be angry at you Bumblebee…” The younger autobot heard the calm sincerity in his voice, but still refused to look at Optimus.

“Well you should be…” his voice was sad with guilt as he looked down at the ground, “I don’t understand how you can be so calm about this. I kissed a human! I kissed Sam!” Optimus placed an assuring hand on Bumblebee’s shoulder. “…Yes, but you love Sam…and you should never be ashamed of love. You deserve to be happy…” Bumblebee jerked away from Optimus’s hand and raised his voice in a miserable rage. “I don’t deserve anything! I’m a disgrace! Sam ran away and it’s probably all my fault! I don’t know why I feel like this, or why my spark hurts, or why you’re not punishing me for being such a huge embarrassment!” Optimus raised his voice to match Bumblebee’s yelling. “You are not a disgrace or an embarrassment, or any of those things! And you do not deserve to be punished! I could never do that to you because I love you--!”

Optimus quickly stopped himself, but it was too late. The blue and red autobot backed away from Bumblebee, realizing what he had just done. Bumblebee quietly looked up to his leader. Optimus…loved him?

- - - - - - - - - - - -

Sam rang the doorbell and waited on the dimly lit doorstep, nervously shifting his stance on each leg. Maybe this wasn’t such a good idea. Sam thought of just running away, and was about to turn around when the door suddenly opened. “…Sam?” A lean and softly tanned girl with wavy black hair stood in the doorway. “Hi Mikaela…”

END PART 3

A/N: Crappily edited, I put this together in literally a day, just so I could get rid of that cliffhanger...too bad I have another two cliffhangers in their place! The next chapters gonna take me a while too, because I haven't thought it all out quite yet and I'm becoming busy. Damn. Anyway, this fic should finish in a total of 5 parts.

Oh, and trust me...Sam and Bee still love each other!

Good morning babe, good morning babe
Open your eyes just a little bit
Good morning sunshine, I can't resist
Dreaming about you babe, all through the night

Sam stirred to the faint sound of music. “Thanks Bee, I’m awake…” Sam sat up in bed and yawned. He hated school. Forcing him to get up at the ungodly hour of 7:00am. He looked out the window to see that the sun hadn’t even risen yet, then yawned again. After a weak stretch, Sam hopped out of bed and slowly made his way to the bathroom.

Meanwhile, Bee sat outside and waited patiently for his human. He knew now that he loved Sam, but would never have the courage to tell him. The possible outcomes were unpredictable. Still, it was good enough just to be with Sam; to forever be his guardian. That, Bee thought, was definitely good enough.

Sam walked out back to where his friend was waiting. “Morning buddy!” Bumblebee’s engine roared to life. He couldn’t wait to get back on the road, even if the school was only a mile away. Sam approached the Camaro and smoothed his hand over the hood. Bee’s engine purred, he loved it when Sam touched him like that, making his spark tingle.

Sam climbed into his best friend and grasped the wheel. “I’ll drive today Bee.” The radio dialed in to Avril Lavigne: Take me away. I’m going nowhere. Sam smiled, “Thanks Bee.”

- - - - - - - - - - - -

Rough and rugged
Kill 'em soft
We don't leave one standin' when we breakin' 'em off
Takin' a loss?
Not a chance in your life
If being fresh is wrong, I don't wanna be right

“You really like that song, don’t you Bee?” The engine rumbled in agreement as they drove towards the school. Within seconds, they were diving right by it. “Sam, we passed your school. Shouldn’t we turn around?” Sam had a mischievous grin on his face. “Nah, I don’t do well in containment. That’s why I’m spending the day with you!”

Bee’s spark surged with excitement. Any time with Sam was a good time. Bee was often bored when Sam was at school anyway, amusing himself by squirting local pets with his windshield wipers. Occasionally he’d go see the other autobots, but they were always too serious and made him do research about the planet. Being with Sam on the other hand…

“…Hello. Earth to Bee!” Bee found himself shaken out of his thoughts once again. He needed to stop drifting away into his databanks. “Bee, that’s another time you’ve gone silent on me. What’s wrong?” “Nothing…” Bee needed to stop lying too. “…I was just, speechless!” Yeah, that was a good answer. But by the look on Sam’s face, he wasn’t convinced. However, he kept it to himself as they drove into oncoming sunrise.

- - - - - - - - - - - -

The day passed by lazily as the sun continued its trip across the sky. Sam and Bee had driven all over south cali, stopping occasionally to let Bee stretch and run around in his autobot form. It was the biggest sense of freedom either of them had ever had. Just the two of them, going anywhere and doing anything…the experience was liberating. Bee learned quite a lot about Earth, stopping to look at cows and horses near the highway, and even just sitting atop rolling golden hills, looking up at fluffy clouds in the bright blue sky. Sam usually just watched Bee roll around and roam free, smiling at the inherent curiosity that overwhelmed his friend. Sometimes it was like watching a five year old explore the world for the first time.

Sam laughed. Bee was currently trying to maintain a handstand, which was interfered by Sam’s laughter, so he toppled over into the tall grass field. His head poked up from the brush, “What’s so funny?” Sam shook his head with a smile. “Oh…just you.” Bee got up and walked over to the human. “Is that a bad thing?”

“No, not at all!”

“Oh…” Bee sat down in front of Sam. “…well, how am I funny?”

“Well…” Sam started climbing onto Bee’s leg. “You definitely have a naïve charm…” Bee stared at the human now on top of his leg. “And you find that amusing?” Sam looked up at his friend, staring into his bright blue optics that were still noticeable, even in the sun’s light. “Yes…”

“Well I’m glad I amuse you. You amuse me too.” The two of them laughed. This was how they wanted it; it was perfect. Just the two of them…

- - - - - - - - - - - -

The sun had already begun to set when Sam and Bee reached the overlook; it was their favorite spot to watch the sunset. “It’s beautiful…” Bee said in awe, mesmerized by the expansive landscape bathed in orange and the fiery colors that enflamed the cloud covered sky. Sam looked over at Bee, who was sat peacefully on the edge of the overlook, his armor glowing softly in the light. “Yeah, it is…do you have any sunsets where you come from?”

The yellow autobot placed his hands behind him and leaned back onto them. “Cybertron has been covered in darkness since the war started. I can’t even remember the last time I saw light on our planet…it seems like this war has lasted forever…”

“…So, the war is still going on? I thought we defeated Megatron and saved the world and everything…” Bee sighed. “I know it seems like it’s over, and it should be…but Starscream has already started gathering reinforcements from Cybertron, and should be back within the next few mon-”

“Wait. The Decepticons are coming back? You never told me! Why didn’t you tell me?” Bee sighed at Sam’s worried expression. “We did not want you to panic Sam. After all that has happened these past few months, we thought it was best not to inform you so soon.” Sam seemed to calm down, but still gave Bee a frustrated look. “I’m sorry I upset you Sam. I should have told you sooner…”

“Yeah, you should have!” The frustration in Sam’s voice caused Bee to look away in guilt. Sam noticed, and after calming down some more, spoke in a softer apologetic tone. “Bee, I want you to promise to tell the truth from now on. No more lying, okay?” Bee was silent for a while, calculating the outcomes of being completely honest with Sam. Of course he didn’t want to lie to Sam, but he also thought it was best if his attraction to Sam was kept to himself. He didn’t want Sam to leave. He wouldn’t….no, couldn’t bear it if he did. Sam was too precious for him to lose…

“Bee! Will you promise me?” Bee looked to his human. “Of course.” He would do anything for Sam, he knew that now. “Thank you.” Sam seemed to relax a bit. The two stayed quiet as they watched the sun disappear over the horizon, leaving traces of orange and yellow to be swallowed by the shadows of twilight.

- - - - - - - - - - - -

But feeling like this on a hot summer's night
I need you beside me, believe me
'Cause I can't say goodnight
I can't say goodnight
I can't say goodnight
Can't say goodnight
I can't say
Goodnight

The yellow Camaro once again routinely made its way to Sam’s dark backyard before stopping in its usual parking spot. “Thanks Bee, I had fun today. Sure, my parents will murder me, but it was definitely worth it.” Sam unbuckled his seatbelt and was about to reach for the car door, but he stopped himself and sat back down. “Bee…do you mind telling me why you’ve been acting weird lately?”

The radio flipped off. Deafening silence filled the car, but Sam was willing to wait. After a while, there was a mechanical straining noise, half whine and half groan, as Bee struggled to speak. “…do I have to?”

Sam rolled his eyes. “Yes Bee, you promised. If something’s wrong I want to help.” More silence followed. “…Bee…please…just tell me what’s bothering you…”

Sam’s car door opened. Sam proceeded to step out of the Camaro and watch it transform into an autobot. After the final gears shifted into place, Sam crossed his arms and waited for an answer. He would wait all night if he had to, because he cared about Bee, more than he would ever know…

“Sam, do you remember what I asked you last night?” Sam thought for a moment, then nodded, “Yeah…”

“Well, that same night I talked to Optimus about it. He said that we are capable of feeling that way too…and I’m sure that I feel that way right now…” Sam raised his eyebrows in surprise. “…oh…?” His voice stumbled a bit, “…can I ask who?” Bee’s spark was blazing in his chest. He had to tell Sam now. He deserved to know the truth. “…you.”

END PART 2

The radio pounded as a sleek yellow Camaro tore down the barren highway, the late afternoon sun blazing down on the windowsheild. Sam’s eyes squinted in the yellow-orange glare, but the overhead visor flipped down to shield the teen’s eyes.

“Thanks Bee…” Sam smiled.

The engine rumbled loudly and the car sped up as the music continued to pump through the cabin. I'm funky fresh. Equipped with a rusty tick. Am I the best? Well I gotta put it bluntly, yes.

Sam and Bee loved to take drives on the weekends and go as fast as they could when the cops weren’t around. The feel of pure adrenaline energized both of them, and being in each other’s company was just as great. In Bumblebee’s case, it was greater.

When Bumblebee first met Sam, he didn’t know what to expect. After all, it was his first real contact with a human, and after researching their behavior, there were many unpredictable outcomes. But he had a mission: to find the AllSpark. Sam was just part of that mission. But he soon became much more. After being assigned as his personal guardian, Bumblebee spent more and more time with Sam, getting to know him as a close personal friend, as well as a protector. He cared for Sam, always making sure that he was alright, which Sam sometimes thought was a little too much; Bee later found out that this was a symptom of teenage independence.

When Bee was captured, the only thing on his mind was supposed to be the AllSpark, and completing the mission…but his processors kept thinking of Sam and his well-being. Sam, and his amusing personality. Sam, and his brave heart. When Sam came to rescue him from Sector 7’s clutches, he wondered if Sam was thinking of him too.

After the battle in Mission City, after Megatron was defeated and the AllSpark destroyed, Bumblebee knew that he wanted to continue being Sam’s guardian, if only to be with him always. He wanted to stay by Sam’s side and protect him from any danger, even if it meant sacrificing his own life. The implications of such a decision had only crossed Bee’s thoughts once.

“I wish to stay with the boy.” Bee looked to Optimus for permission.

“If that is his choice.” Bee looked down at Sam, who looked back up at him. They stared at each other for a long moment, searching for what was the obvious answer.

“Yes.” Bee continued to look down at Sam as a new overwhelming feeling pulsed through his sensors. A feeling that has been with him ever since.

“Yo, Bee!” Bee was jolted out of his databanks and found himself back on a highway.

“You were swerving a little bit back there. Is something wrong?” Sam’s worried voice upset Bee.

“Don’t worry about me, everything’s fine.” Bee hated to lie, but he also hated when Sam worried over him.

“Okay then, let’s head home.” The yellow Camaro continued to speed down the highway as the music continued and the sky got darker.

- - - - - - - - - - - -

The sun had already set when Bee pulled up to Sam’s house. End of the World by Armor for Sleep played softly on the radio as the Camaro slowly drove around back to his usual parking spot in the backyard.

“Thanks for the ride Bee.” Sam unbuckled and stepped out of his friend as Chris Brown yelled out on the radio. I would like to thank ya’ll tonight for coming out, for chillin’ wit me.

“You’re welcome…” Sam smiled as he started off toward his back door. But then he paused in hesitation. “You sure you’re alright Bee?” The radio fizzled and clicked off. “Yes Sam, I’m fine.” Sam stood there in uncertainty, but then nodded and headed to his house.

“Sam?” Sam turned back to his friend. “Yeah?” The Camaro started transforming in front of Sam’s eyes, which always amazed him every time he saw it. When Bee was finished transforming, he kneeled down on his legs, then onto his arms until he was lying down. He propped up onto his arms and elbows, supporting him so that his head was at an equal level with Sam.

“What is love?” Sam blinked a few times. “Love?” The autobot nodded and his optics glowed in curiosity. Sam shifted between his feet as he looked at the ground, why did he always get caught in awkward situations?

“Can’t you just, you know, research it online or something?” Sam said, looking back at his friend. “I have tried…but my research has proven ineffective. Each definition I find is different than the other. I would like your definition Sam.”

Sam looked back at the ground to think, while Bee observed his human, waiting patiently for a response. “I…” Sam started, “I don’t really know…” Bee tilted his head a bit in confusion. Sam noticed and tried clarifying. “I mean, there isn’t really a direct definition, because it’s different for lots of people…” He paused again to think. “I guess the best I can describe it is…when you really really really like someone. So much that your heart aches and you do crazy things for them, and you want to spend the rest of your life with them…” Sam strained to think of an easier way to explain this.

“Is that what you and Mikaela had?” Sam looked back at his friend. “What? Oh, no…I mean yes, well…on a certain level, I guess…can we not talk about Mikaela?” Bee nodded. “I’m sorry Sam.” It was definitely a touchy subject. Mikaela had left Sam for yet another dumb muscled jock. After all that they had been through, after saving the world, Sam still wasn’t good enough. The depression almost killed him, and Bee had to intervene more than once to save Sam’s life.

“When you lose your love, do you do crazy things as well?” Sam thought about the question. “Yeah, you do.” Bee nodded in understanding, Sam was obviously referring to Mikaela. Bee thought to himself…if only Sam cared that deeply for him…if only he…

“Why’d you ask Bee?” Bee was shaken from his calculations. “I…I simply wanted to know your take on it Sam. Thank you for clearing things up.” Sam nodded. “No problem buddy. Sleep tight.” With that, Sam waved goodbye and walked into his house. Bee on the other hand stayed in his autobot form, and rolled over to look up at the stars.

His spark ached.

- - - - - - - - - - - -

“Optimus, may I speak with you in private?” The largest autobot looked away from the others and to the small yellow one. “Of course Bumblebee.”

They both walked away from the small group of robots, past a clearing and headed up a large hill. At the top they could see the entire city, its lights flickering and blinking in the darkness, mimicking the stars above.

“What did you want, my friend?” Bumblebee just stood in silence as he looked over the dark horizon, and Optimus did the same, giving him as much time as he needed. “Earlier this evening, Sam told me about the human emotion of love.” Bumblebee looked to the larger autobot. “Is it possible for us to feel the same way?” Optimus kept his gaze over the city and the stars.

“Bumblebee, you are still very young. You do not yet know the workings of our world, nor of the humans. But you should know that the others and I do not look down on you because of this.” Bumblebee kept looking up at his leader, waiting for him to continue. “We Cybertrons do not have many of the emotions displayed by the humans. As a species, we have evolved and outgrown the need for most emotions.” He looked down at his yellow friend. “Love is not one of them.”

“So…it is possible then?” There was a hint of excitement in Bumblebee’s voice. “Yes, it is possible. Our sparks are the source of our power and our emotions. They allow us to feel many amazing things, love being one of them.” Optimus looked back up to the stars.

“Love is a powerful thing Bumblebee. It can control us and consume us, but it can also free us in a way we had never thought possible.” Bumblebee looked up into the starry night sky, imagining endless freedom and eternal bliss. “Optimus, my spark aches.”

The large blue and red autobot looked back to his yellow companion. “Love has a tendency to create pain when it’s very strong.” Bumblebee placed his hand over his chest, feeling his spark pulse with energy beneath his armor. “I…I can feel the energy.”

Optimus gave a low amused chuckle. “Yes Bumblebee, your love is very strong…” There was a moment of silence as the two autobots looked on into the night. “Samuel Witwicky.”

“Ah…I thought as much.” Optimus said in another amused tone. “I’ve seen the way you care for him, protecting him at whatever the cost.” There was another pause. “Sam is very precious to you, isn’t he?” Bumblebee nodded. “Yes, he is.” Bumblebee looked into the sky once again. “I love him.”

“Then go to him.” Bumblebee looked back to his leader. Optimus nodded. In seconds, Bumblebee was a Camaro again. “Thank you.”

“Anytime old friend. Drive safe.” The yellow Camaro revved its engine and drove off into the night. Optimus stood on the hill a little while longer after that, feeling a familiar pain in his chest as he watched the lights disappear.

Hooray for open-mindedness!

My journal is surely going to be expaning to include other pairings as well (not just KakaIru). This will most likely start with my second-love pairing, SamBee (from Transformers). I refer to it as my second love because I love it just as much as KakaIru, but I found it way later. If I can just research the Transformers universe enough to write a decent fic, I'll get right on it. But for now, I hve schoolwork. Damn you school, you ruin my fantasies yet again!

Summary: Kakashi’s perverted mind gets the best of him…again…and it drives Iruka crazy! Classic KakaIru fic.

It had started just like any other day. He started off taking long hot shower after a night of dizzying sex. Next he got dressed into his chuunin uniform while simultaneously getting himself a light breakfast. Then he went back to the bedroom and kissed his lover on the forehead. For a while, Iruka just sat on the bedside, watching Kakashi sleep peacefully. Finally he grabbed his things and set off to the academy. When he heard the door close, Kakashi smirked. He had the whole day planned out…

***

“Iruka-sensei?”

The academy teacher turned from his writing on the chalkboard. “Yes Mitsui-chan?”

“Are you gay?”

The piece of chalk Iruka was holding fell to the ground and broke into tiny pieces. He stood entirely still with his mouth hanging open. The entire class was wide eyed at their sensei’s unusual behavior.

“…E-Excuse me?”

The little girl started pressing her two index fingers together and blushed. “Well…a bunch of people around the village have been talking…and they were wondering if you might be gay. Are you?”

The entire class leaned forward in anticipation. Iruka felt faint. Since when did people start noticing? Had news gotten out already!?

But before he could say anything, the classroom door opened. In stepped Kakashi Hatake, acting as nonchalant as ever, walking right toward the stunned Iruka. Then he noticed dozens of eyes staring at him from the side. He stopped and looked at the entire genin class. Then back at Iruka. “…am…I interrupting something?”

Iruka had the urge to burst out angrily, ‘YES! I’m in the middle of teaching my class you IDIOT!’…but instead he found an escape.

“No! No, of course not Kakashi-sensei! We were just about to have recess. Class, recess!” The kids asked no questions as they scurried themselves out of the classroom, leaving Iruka and Kakashi staring at each other.

Iruka closed the door and quickly hugged Kakashi. “You have NO idea how glad I am to see you!” Kakashi was a bit surprised, partly because Iruka was touching him in school.

“I’m glad to see you too…” Kakashi hugged back, feeling oddly compassionate instead of pervy at the moment. That moment would come soon enough…

“You’re not going to believe what just happened…” Iruka came out of the embrace to look at his lover.

“People are starting to find out…”

Kakashi’s visible eye widened a bit. Not in surprise, more like amusement. “Really? About us?”

Iruka looked at the ground and scratched his scar. “Well…more about me…” Kakashi tried his hardest to keep himself from laughing hysterically, and if Iruka had been looking up, he would have seen the tearing eye and deep red blush peeking out from Kakashi’s mask.

“…*cough*…well *cough* that’s…unfortunate.” Kakashi tried to calm down a bit. “But Iruka, why don’t we just let them find out?”

Iruka sighed and looked up at his lover. He didn’t meet his eyes though, he only got to his masked lips. “I guess I’m just scared. You’re the only person that knows I’m gay, and I don’t know if I’m ready to come out yet.”

There was just something about Iruka at that moment that made Kakashi forget about everything else in the world. “You don’t have to be scared. I’m right here. Nobody’s going to think any different of you.” He went back to hugging his shy dolphin until a blush found itself across his scarred nose. Iruka smiled and placed his forehead against Kakashi’s, blushing even more.

That did it. Before they even knew what happened, Kakashi’s lips were planted onto Iruka’s, and they rubbed and panted against the chalkboard. Some chalk got onto the back of Iruka’s vest, smudging the writing, but right now he only thought of Kakashi.

Kakashi’s tongue swirled through Iruka’s hot mouth, licking everything there was to taste before traveling out and onto his neck, where he pleasantly sucked until the skin reddened, marking that the dolphin belonged to him. Iruka let out a soft groan before unconsciously pushing Kakashi’s head lower and lower.

Hey, Iruka could be sexual just like any other person. Just because he got more than occasionally pissed at Kakashi’s perverted behavior, didn’t mean Iruka hadn’t had his moments of horniness. Kakashi lifted Iruka’s shirt up a bit to reveal the well toned abs underneath. His tongue flicked around and across the navel, teasing the chuunin into arousal. Kakashi felt his lover start to harden and started to paw at the hard on.

When Iruka stifled out another moan, Kakashi undid the pant’s zipper and slowly massaged the chuunin’s erection through thin fabric. “The…the kids…they’ll be back soon…”

“Shhh…shhhh…don’t worry about them. Just focus on us right now.” Kakashi knew it was extremely risky and not very smart either…but hey he was risky…and smart in most ways…

Kakashi slowly eased the dark boxer shorts down Iruka’s inner thighs, exposing the pulsing cock underneath. Kakashi took the warm erection in his hand and looked up at his love. Iruka’s face was flushed and looked like he was going to cry. “Just…hurry…” he panted.

Iruka watched as Kakashi’s pale mouth encased the tip of his weeping cock. He held his breath at the hot contact. Silver hair moved down the shaft, slowly taking in the tan member. Iruka tried his best to keep his breath steady, but to no avail. He thought he felt a cold sweeping sensation around his cock, but only for a brief moment. That cold suddenly brought him back into reality.

“SHIT! What the hell am I doing!? Kakashi get off!” Iruka pushed at his lover’s head, but the jounin didn’t budge. Iruka tried harder to get Kakashi off him, but he only kept on sucking.

“Kakashi this isn’t funny! The kids are trained for five minute recesses, they’ll be back soon!” Kakashi didn’t move from his position. Instead he reached into one of his pockets, pulling out a neatly folded piece of paper and handing it to his chuunin lover.

Iruka blinked. He unfolded the piece of paper.

Dear ‘Ruru,

You may have noticed that I have not stopped sucking your dick and class will be back at any moment. This is because of my latest and most elaborate jutsu, “The Eternal Love Link”. I read it in a recent Icha Icha that Jiraiya himself gave me! I have sealed my mouth onto your cock, and it will stay there permanently. Don’t worry my Dolphin, there is a cure. The key of releasing the seal is simple, cum. That’s it. Shouldn’t be too hard, ne? I hope this experience will teach you a thing or two about courage…or something important like that…Anyway, have fun!

Yours Truly, ‘Kashi ;)

“You FUCKING PERVERT! I’ll teach you a thing or two about stupidity!” Iruka started hitting hard and bashing on Kakashi’s head, who in return bit down hard on Iruka’s now half erect member.

“OW! Get off you ASSHOLE--!” The sound of chatting youngsters and pitter-patter of little running feet suddenly caught Iruka’s attention.

“CRAP! Now see what you’ve done? How the hell am I going to explain this Kakashi!?” Kakashi responded by pulling Iruka, by the cock of course, to his desk. Iruka hesitated, looking at his desk, then to the door where his students were sure to burst through at any second.

***

“We’re back Iruka-sensei!”

“Just like you trained us!”

“Aren’t we good Iruka-sensei?”

“We deserve some sort of present!”

Iruka smiled back at his class. “Yes yes, you’ve been very good class. I wish I could say the same for some people…” The smiling academy teacher kicked under his desk, eliciting a small almost unnoticeable whimper.

“Iruka-sensei? What happened to the lesson plan?” Iruka looked a little confused at the girl who had asked the question, until she pointed a finger to the smudged and unreadable chalk board.

“OH! Uh—that! Well…um…”

“And where did Kakashi-sensei go?” Another student asked.

“Well, you see…he had to—”

“And what’s that weird red mark on your neck?”

“That…that’s uh…”

“And why can’t you finish your sentences?”

“Because you keep INTERUPTING me!” He yelled back at his students, who promptly quieted down.

A little guilty of his outburst, Iruka lowered his voice. “No more questions, okay? Things are the way they are. End of story. As for the lesson plan…” He took a quick glance back at the messy chalkboard. “…Well…I have it written down here somewhere. Where’s my bag…”

A gloved hand reached out from under the desk, handing the sensei his bag. “Thank You.” Iruka said in acknowledgment. He froze. His heart sank as he realized what had just happened.

“Uh…Iruka-sensei…?”

“MULTI-ARM JUTSU! I used a Multi-Arm Jutsu to get my bag!”

“But what about the…”

“No more questions!” That comment caused the whole class to look at each other suspiciously. Something was wrong with their sensei, and they were determined to find out what.

***

“…Now if you’ll turn to page 53--”

“Iruka-sensei?” A young girl raised her hand high into the air.

“Yes, what is it Michu-chan?”

“May I please go to the bathroom?”

The scar nosed teacher thought for a moment. “Yes you may. But hurry back.” The little girl nodded happily and sped out the room.

“Class, I want you to read chapters 3-9.” The class gave an over exaggerated groan. “Quietly.” When the class had settled down to a peaceful volume, Iruka sighed to himself. Kakashi had been sucking him for about 10 minutes now, and he just couldn’t get in the mood. Not with an entire room full of innocent genin.

He took Kakashi’s note out of his vest pocket and re-read it. The key to releasing the seal is simple, cum. Hah! Simple! Not with all this pressure! He gave a good kick to the jounin underneath his desk. Perverted bastard! If he ever got out of this, Kakashi wasn’t having sex for an entire MONTH!...or at least a week!...or maybe a couple days…maybe.

Iruka concentrated on his situation. The only way to get out of this would be to come. But how would he ever--no. He needed to concentrate. If he was going to make it out of this, he needed concentration…

Meanwhile, Kakashi kneeled in a cramped but relatively comfortable position under his lover’s desk. Thank the gods it had space. Kakashi had to admire his own genius. This was great! Giving a blowjob to Iruka-koi during class! It was literally a dream come true! Now if only Iruka-koi could get into the mood……low and behold it’s working! Kakashi started to feel the growing length in his mouth. In response, he started to put a little more effort into his job.

Iruka’s breath hitched. A little too loudly, because some of the students looked up from their textbooks. He gave them a quick glare, which sent them back to reading, and Iruka back to concentrating. He needed to come as soon as possible.

Little did he know, Michu-chan had not gone to the bathroom. In fact, she was almost done climbing up to the classroom window outside. When she had finally scaled the tree, she hid herself behind some leaves and leaned in closer to get a good look at her sensei. She was angled just a little bit behind him, and couldn’t see too well because of the sun’s glare on the glass.

With a bit of squinting she could make out something moving a bit under Iruka-sensei’s desk. Aha! So there was something down there! Her classmates would be pleased with her newfound information...

***

“So? Did you see anything?”

“Yeah! I definitely saw something moving under Iruka-sensei’s desk. That’s got to be the thing that’s making him act all funny. Did you see he didn’t even notice me come back into the room?”

“Or notice that we’re talking right now?”

“And what about those weird noises he’s making?”

The huddled group of students turned their attention to the sensei slumped over his desk, shivering and panting, with an occasional soft moan. Then they faced back to each other and nodded. “Phase 2 is a go.”

“…Iruka-sensei……Iruka-sensei?”

“GAH!” Iruka snapped out of his sex induced trance to the boy standing beside him.

“Wh-What is it Tonai-kun!? Go back to your seat!”

The student looked at the ground and scuffed his feet innocently. “Well, I was wondering if you could show me the proper Tai-jutsu beginner’s stance…” He looked up at his teacher.

“Uh…I don’t think so Tonai-kun, maybe another time…just not now.”

A little peeved from the rejection, the boy grabbed Iruka by the arm and started yanking. “Come on Iruka-sensei! Show me the proper stance!”

Iruka was altogether horrified. “Tonai-kun! Let go of me this instant!” He clung to the desk like a scared puppy, clawing into the wood.

“Iruka-sensei! What’s wrong with yoouuuu--!!” There was a loud thud as the little genin fell to the ground. The relived Iruka looked over to see what had happened, and noticed the boy’s legs locked together in a familiar position. Kakashi. He used the Leg Lock Jutsu. Thank gods.

Iruka cleared his throat. “…There! Let that teach you not to mess with your sensei!” He eyed the rest of the class. “As for the rest of you, I don’t want anybody coming up to me for the rest of the day. In fact, I want everybody to study quietly in the back rows of the room until I say so. Understood?” The class gave a suspicious nod.

“Good.” Iruka channeled his chakra and released the little boy’s bind. He scurried away and up to the top of the class with his students. Kids, Iruka loved them…but he hated them.

***

“Damn. So what happened Tonai?” The crowd of whispering genin had increased in size.

“Well, I was pulling on him like you said to do, but my legs suddenly cramped up and I fell down. When I was falling, I barely noticed a hand stick out from under the desk, pointing at me! When I hit the ground, I tried to look under the desk and I definitely saw a gleam of silver hair!”

Konohamaru nodded. “There’s only one explanation. A white skinned silver haired gloved monster is under Iruka-sensei’s desk! We have to save him!”

Another boy interpreted. “But why would Iruka-sensei keep it secret from us? Doesn’t he want to be saved?”

Konohamaru thought for a moment. “Well, the Boss always told me to look underneath the underneath. This is probably a test! He wants us to figure it out by ourselves like real ninja and save him in the end! Wow, I’m gonna get an A for sure this time!”

“So when do we strike Konohamaru?” A little kunoichi asked.

“Phase 3 will commence when Iruka-sensei gives us the signal…”

“But what’s the signal?”

“I don’t know. We’ll have to wait and see…”

***

Iruka was back to lying across his desk again, blissfully unaware of everything around him. Kakashi should have been tired by now, but Iruka could feel that the jounin still had a lot of energy in him. A lot. He breathed heavily into the wood, feeling his swollen cock being swallowed to the hilt, then back to the tip, over and over again.

Kakashi picked up speed, and heard the lover above him give a satisfied grunt. He would never get tired of this. Never. Too bad he was dead when this was over…but it was totally worth it. He had to pity the dolphin though, so it was finally time to pull out all the stops.

“…aw fuck!” Iruka muffled his shouts with his sleeve, so it really came out as, “…mmh fphff!” Kakashi licked the slit of Iruka’s member, tasting the faint hint of yummy precum. He lapped it up immediately and sucked until it was all gone, then slid his tongue around the entire length before plunging down to the hilt again, milking Iruka for all he was worth.

Iruka muffled another yelp into his arm, and felt Kakashi pause. Kakashi relaxed his mouth even more, and continued to swallow Iruka. He was already at the balls, and he drove himself deeper until he was buried deep into Iruka’s pelvis, trying his best not to gag. Then he started to pick up a fast paced rhythm, making sure to fondle and caress Iruka’s balls, determined to make Iruka spill his seed.

Kakashi’s own painful erection was starting to chafe in his pants, so he quickly whipped it out and started to stroke his rock hard cock. When he looked up to see the sexy academy teacher’s straining body writhing and moaning above him, he pounded his fist harder onto his cock, almost to a painful level.

Iruka was close, and Kakashi could feel it. He was actually getting pretty close too. He hummed and continued to deep throat his chuunin, as Iruka stretched over the desk, feeling the tremors inside of him start to escalate to the outside. He shivered and moaned into the desk, occasionally face fucking Kakashi and helping him along. Kakashi continued to thrust his own cock into his hand when he noticed Iruka’s twitch twice, like it always did. He prepared and placed a fist at the base of Iruka’s member, pounding and sucking and humming until the final moments of release.

On the third twitch, Iruka yelled loud into the desk, digging his fingers into the wood, and shot his load into Kakashi’s awaiting mouth. A huge spray of warmth rushed down Kakashi’s throat, engulfing his senses with Iruka’s sweet but salty taste. The built up tension kept the cum flowing, making it hard for Kakashi to swallow every load, and causing some to dribble down his chin. Kakashi’s senses finally overloaded, sending big spurts of semen into his hand, onto the floor, and Iruka’s legs. Finally the eruption stopped, leaving a sweaty academy teacher panting on the hardwood desk. Below, a silver haired jounin licked the last traces of semen off of his lover. Kakashi smirked as he licked his lips of all cum before neatly putting his lover’s cock back into its boxers, then zipping up the pants. He did the same to himself, then just lay his head down on Iruka’s inner thigh, smiling and utterly satisfied.

Iruka on the other hand was still coming down from his natural high, resting his head on the desk. But a huge amount of chakra flow snapped him back to his senses. His eyes shot open to see his students suddenly charging towards him. “We heard your scream of terror Iruka-sensei! It’s hero time!”

……what the fuck!?

Iruka’s eyes widened in shock when noticed the explosion tags that were tackily thrown onto his desk, and ready to detonate. On instinct, Iruka pushed himself away a safe distance in his chair, when his mind suddenly clicked. Oh shit! Kakashi!

A deep thunderous boom resounded throughout the classroom, covering every inch of the space in thick smoke. When the tremors had stopped, only the sound of coughing children was heard. Iruka coughed a bit himself, and tried to see through the dense smoke. When everything cleared, the students, along with Iruka, stared at the broken remains of Iruka’s desk. Scraps of paper and important documents were scattered, singed, and obliterated. The wood was splintered into big chunks as well. But everyone was staring at Kakashi, who was standing right on top of the pile, keeping a completely calm complexion.

“…Ka-Kakashi-sensei?” There was a stunned and awkward silence after the little girl had spoken out. But that was quickly replied by a simple “…Yo.”

“Wha-…What were you doing under Iruka-sensei’s desk Kakashi-sensei?”

The jounin put a hand to his chin and closed his eyes thoughtfully, as if deciding what to do. Then he smiled cheerfully. “Well if you really want to know the truth, I was actually sucking on Iruka-sensei’s--”

“Lollipops!! Who wants lollipops!?” All heads turned the sensei in question, smiling and completely oblivious of everything that had just happened. Yells, shouts, and cheers from the students erupted as they crowded Iruka with “Gimme!” Iruka on the other hand was giving the most cold-hearted and bone chilling death glare he had ever given to the other sensei across the room. Kakashi was dead.

***
Iruka awoke to a peaceful morning sun shining though his windows. He laid in bed blissfully, looking out the window overlooking Konoha. Then he stretched and got up out of bed. He hadn’t slept that well in ages. Iruka walked to his bathroom and started to brush his teeth when he heard a soft rattling coming from his bedroom. The chuunin just rolled his eyes and continued brushing. The rattling continued, getting louder and more annoying until it genuinely started to aggravate Iruka. He spit and washed out his mouth before walking calmly back to his room.

He walked toward the shaking closet door making the irritating noise, and slid it open. Inside was a very large cage containing a naked jounin in a zip mask and chains. Iruka lazily reached over and unzipped the mouth piece of the mask. The jounin inhaled a huge breath of air and coughed a bit.

“Do you know how hard it is to breath in this thing!?” Iruka just stared tiredly back at Kakashi, giving a yawn while he spoke. “Stop making so much noise. It’s really annoying sometimes.”

“Iruka, please! I’ve been in here for two days, I’ve learned my lesson now!” The tan ninja gave a sympathetic look to the crouched sex slave in the cage. “Have you really learned your lesson? Will you promise to not embarrass me in front of my class—no, anyone, ever again, and not be such a huge pervert all the time?” Kakashi nodded aggressively, “YES!”, the copy-nin pleaded, “Yes, I will promise to never embarrass you and I won’t be such a gigantic perv! Now please let me out Iruka!” Iruka looked down at Kakashi’s beautiful puppy dog eyes, watching every shred of his dignity fall apart.

“Hmmm…you have behaved well recently…” Kakashi perked up and nodded hastily in agreement. “…but I could always use another good-night’s sleep. Better make it an even three days.”

Kakashi’s face fell. “What!? No! I’ll be good! I’ll be GOOD! 3 days isn’t even! I’ll be good, I promise! NOOO—” Kakashi’s shouts were muffled by the black leather mask as Iruka zipped the lip back up. The jounin continued to yell as Iruka closed the closet door. Iruka took a deep breath and sighed. Then a bright smile appeared on his face. It really did feel good to be on top.

A/N: A very huge work in progress has finally been completed. This has been the longest thing to write (started in about November and finished just now in August). I am so glad it’s done though, so I can move on to more fics!

[Chapter 1: Different Worlds]

“Where are we going again?” Iruka looked over at Kakashi as they both headed towards the village gates. The late morning sun had risen further into the sky, and the people of Konoha were bustling about their daily lives. “If I told you, it wouldn’t be a surprise now would it?” Iruka’s face fell. “Ha-ha, very funny. Why can’t I know about this mission? The Hokage hired both of us for this job, so shouldn’t I get to know what we’re actually doing?” Kakashi sighed to himself as the village gates opened, allowing the two ninja to pass through and into the forest. “I’ll give you the details when we get there. Tsunade-sama has her reasons for not telling you, and for once I agree with her.” Iruka’s patience was thinning as they walked through the trees. Why did he have to be stuck with Kakashi-sensei on this mission? He hadn’t been on a mission in months, much less an A-Ranked mission! But whatever the Hokage says, goes, and Iruka couldn’t help but wonder what A-Ranked mission could ever involve him, he was only a Chuunin.

Iruka muttered to himself as he hiked onward “I don’t understand why I’m out here if I don’t even know what I’m doing. Is it really that bad to know about the mission? And why am I paired up with Kakashi-sensei? We don’t even know each other that well…”“Ah! This looks like a nice spot.” Iruka looked up from his bickering to see a shady secluded clearing hidden by trees on all sides. “What? We’re setting up camp already? But we just left the village!” Kakashi didn’t answer though. Instead, he reached out and grabbed Iruka’s arm, and put his other hand in his pouch.

Iruka couldn’t see. Everything was dark. He could feel icy wind rushing through him, a wind so cold that it almost burned. The raw freezing air made it difficult to breathe, and in the deafening silence Iruka only heard his slowed heartbeat. He could feel Kakashi’s hand gripping tightly to his arm, holding on as the strong winds swirled around them. And then it was gone.

Iruka felt the warm rays of the sun on his skin. He opened his eyes to a bright sunny plaza. The sky was a deep bright blue, with perfectly white fluffy clouds floating high above. The plaza was fairly full of oddly dressed people checking out small white booths on the sides, but most seemed to be headed to a large glass dome across the plaza. “Iruka-sensei, move! We have to stay hidden!” Iruka felt Kakashi tug onto his arm and pull him off to the side, but had just enough time to read a giant sign atop the glass dome, “AniFest ‘07”, before being pulled forcefully into some nearby bushes.

“Ow! Kakashi-sensei, what is going on? Where are we?” Iruka looked at the copy-nin for answers, who was staring intently through the bushes. “We’re at an…” Kakashi paused for a moment and breathed out with a shudder, “…anime convention.” Iruka blinked. “What’s that?” Kakashi took a deep breath and released it slowly before turning to Iruka.
“There’s no time to explain everything, so I’ll try to make this as simple as possible. We – that is, you, me, the Hokage, the Leaf Village, everyone we know – are what the people in this world call ‘anime’. Being here also gives us unique characteristics that we would have never noticed befo-”“-whoahwoahwoah…what do you mean……we’re in another world?” Kakashi paused to think things over. “Essentially yes; another world, another dimension, another universe, you choose…but some of the people in this world-”“-wait a minute, wait a minute…how did we get here?” Kakashi reached into his pouch and pulled out a small crystal ball, not bigger than the palm of his hand. “This…” Kakashi held the ball up to Iruka, who looked at it in curiosity.

“This is the anime orb.” The orb glowed in the light peering through the bushes, giving it a mystic rainbow appearance. “It’s belonged to the Hokages since our world began. It allows us to travel from the Anime World to the World of Creation.” Iruka looked up at Kakashi. “World of Creation? Do you mean that…?” Kakashi nodded. “Yes, our world was created here, in the one we’re in now.” Iruka’s eyes widened at the revelation. “Many have been created here in fact, each with their own anime orbs. Every so often, annual festivals are held to celebrate anime. That is when our worlds are able to connect, and the anime orbs start to glow.” Iruka looked back down at the multicolor glow of the orb in Kakashi’s hand. “Why doesn’t anybody know? Why hasn’t the Hokage told anyone about this?” The copy-nin took back the orb and placed it in his pouch. “And create mass panic, not to mention the risk of someone stealing it? If the anime orb were to fall into the wrong hands…” Kakashi didn’t even bother finishing the sentence.

Iruka let the information sink in. His entire view of the universe had changed within just a few minutes. There were still so many questions he wanted to ask, but maybe the answers were better left unknown. Iruka looked up to see Kakashi peering out of the bushes. The chuunin also decided to observe the costumed people going into the glass domed building. “So what’s our mission?”

“Our mission is to retrieve a very important object from within AniFest and deliver it to the Hokage.” Iruka nodded in agreement as he took in his surroundings. “And why am I here again?” Kakashi looked over at Iruka. “KakaIru…”

A/N: This started as just a drabble I wrote in class, and got so complicated I made it into a multi-chapter fic! You may have noticed there’s [regrettably] no romance between Kakashi and Iruka in this chapter. That’s because I needed an entire chapter to explain the story first. Trust me, the KakaIru-ness will start in the next chapter (slowly but surely). Yes, there are many plot holes in this chapter, but I assure you I have thought of them. I just couldn’t find a way to fit them into this chapter, so I’ve decided to save some points for later. I hope you liked it and will keep reading!

Summary: As years go by…things can change for the better…

***Year 1***

Iruka watched the snow fall slowly in the night, illuminated by tons of festive Christmas lights. He listened to the terrible silence of his dark apartment, devoid of any holiday cheer, and sighed to himself. His eyes traveled down to his cup full of luke warm apple cider, watching the amber liquid, and his stomach clenched. The holidays brought back so many memories, memories he wanted to forget.

Iruka got up and walked away from the frost covered window, passing through the kitchen and pouring his cider down the sink. He didn’t even bother turning on any lights as he dragged himself to his bedroom and climbed into bed. It was cold and uncomfortable, just like the holidays. It was always like this now, ever since his parents died, and the holidays only reminded him of them even more. Iruka shuffled under the sheets and clenched his eyes shut, trying to block out his memories.

The doorbell rang. Iruka’s yes shot open and he froze in place, holding his breath. Maybe it wasn’t his doorbell…maybe he was hearing things. Then it rang again. Iruka exhaled and groggily got out of bed. He traversed the dark in silence, wondering who could be at his apartment on Christmas Eve, let alone any other time of the year. He lazily unlocked and opened the door, feeling the freezing air immediately blow right through him. He shivered in the doorway, clenching his teeth, when he suddenly gasped.

There on the doormat of his apartment was a small box, wrapped in simple black wrapping paper and tied off with a thin red ribbon. A present. Iruka stood in the frigid cold, staring at the box before looking up and down his apartment complex. Nobody was there. At first Iruka thought it must have a prank from one of his students, but then he noticed a green tag sticking out of the ribbon. Iruka picked up the box and held it up so he could read it…

To: Dolphin
From: Anonymous

“Dolphin? What the…” This certainly was very suspicious, but seeing as he was about to go numb, Iruka took the package inside and lay it on the living room table. It didn’t really look threatening, but he hesitated nonetheless. When he finally built up enough courage, Iruka carefully untied the ribbon, then started to slowly rip off the paper. That sound, the sound of ripping paper during the holidays was something Iruka truly missed.

It was just a box, a plain cardboard box with the flaps overlapping each other. Iruka bit his lip anxiously in a final attempt to back off, but curiosity got the best of him. He quickly opened the flaps, and somehow the entire box just collapsed on itself, revealing the gift inside. Iruka’s hands flew to his face, trying to muffle the surprised gasp. It was a beautiful snow globe, with detailed engravings of dolphins drawn in the snow on the side of the stand. The globe lay on top of the snow mound, adorned with snow covered trees and encasing a dolphin ice sculpture. Its spout blew out an array of spiked ice crystals, vaguely resembling a ponytail. The dolphin’s snout seemed to be chipped off a bit, almost like a…scar. Iruka’s eyes widened even more…how…?

Suddenly, the snow globe automatically turned itself on, and the ice dolphin started to spin. The snow mound base with dolphin drawings started to spin too, and automated snow whirled around the snow globe, lit up by calming blue lights. Music was playing, an enchanting and memorable melody that made Iruka think back to the Christmas’ of his past. But this wasn’t a painful revisit, because all he could remember was the happiness that Christmas brought, and the joy we should spread to others. Tears started to well up in Iruka’s eyes as the peaceful music played on, removing his hands from his mouth and approaching the snow globe. Under the snow globe, Iruka noticed a red card sticking out from underneath. He slipped the card out and read it.

It was just a simple red card, and written in gold ink was a message.

Dear Iruka-sensei,

Nobody should be alone on the holidays. This gift is for you to remember the magic and love that Christmas brings. I hope I’ve warmed your heart this year, and I plan on warming it every year from now on.

Merry Christmas Iruka-sensei.

Iruka’s heart suddenly did feel warmer. He hadn’t received a gift from anyone else on Christmas since his parents died, even though he was rather ashamed to admit it. The music from the snow globe started to slow down as Iruka plopped down into a chair, re-reading the card over and over again. Tears fell steadily from his eyes… and then the music stopped.

***Year 2***

Iruka was actually excited. For the first time in years he was excited for the holidays. He had bought a perfectly sized tree for his small apartment and decorated it with glowing multicolor lights, shiny and glossy ornaments, and various strings of ribbon and tinsel. It reminded him of his childhood, setting up the tree with his parents…but this memory wasn’t painful. In fact, he could only give a tearful smile at his finished creation. His snow globe sat on a dark wood side table next to the tree, reflecting the beautiful colors of the tree off the glass.

But the real reason Iruka was excited was because he was expecting company. A student in his class that Iruka had come to admire greatly, Naruto Uzumaki. Ever since the incident with Mizuki, Iruka’s relationship with Naruto skyrocketed, and the two bonded like father and son, spending time chatting away at Ichiraku’s Ramen Shop. For the first time in a long time, Christmas was happy again.

The door burst open. “Iruka-senseeeeiii! I’m here!” Iruka turned his attention to the screaming blonde that had just barged into his front room. He though about scolding Naruto for doing so, but kids will be kids…especially on Christmas.

“Hey Naruto! You’re just in time to help me make hot chocolate.” Iruka called from the kitchen.

“Hot chocolate!? Alright!” The hyperactive genin ran straight to the kitchen to help his sensei.

“Here Naruto, just take the powder and put it into the mugs……now add the hot milk, and be careful…” Iruka watched his student carefully pour the steaming white liquid into the mug and begin to instinctively stir the chocolate with a spoon. He really cared for Naruto, and treated him like a son. After all, neither of them had any family, so they really only had each other…

“Uh…Iruka-sensei? Why are you rubbing my head?” Iruka snapped out of his momentary reminiscing to find his hand gently rubbing Naruto’s golden spiked hair. With a nervous grin, Iruka quickly pulled his hand away. “Uh, heh. Why don’t you add some marshmallows now?”

“Marshmallows!? YUMMY!” Honestly, Naruto was all about food. He plopped the marshmallows into the hot chocolate…giving a bit more to himself…then a bit more, before handing one of the mugs to his teacher.

They headed back to the living room and sat in front of the tree, having a cheerful discussion about complicated battle tactics and powerful jutsus. Then Iruka decided to change the subject. “So how are things going on Team 7 Naruto?”

Naruto pouted a bit. “We’ve only been doing stupid chores. We haven’t even been on a real mission yet! And everything’s always about Sasuke, Sakura-chan’s over him all the time!”

A sudden thought passed through Iruka’s mind. “What about your teacher Kakashi-sensei?”

Naruto’s eyes seemed to light up with anger. “Don’t even get me started on that pervert! All he does is lay around all day and read that stupid perverted book of his while we work our freaking butts off! He’s always late every day and never teaches us anything! He’s such a lazy--!!”

The doorbell rang. Iruka politely excused himself from Naruto’s ranting to answer it. The frosty air hit him as he opened the door, and startled when he saw a small black box wrapped in a thin green ribbon sitting on his doorstep.

Iruka quickly looked up and down the outside halls of the complex, determined to find the mystery gift giver. When he didn’t see or sense anyone, Iruka went back inside.

“Who was it Iruka-sensei?” Naruto asked out of curiosity.

“I don’t know…but they left this.” Iruka held up the box, and Naruto’s eyes beamed.

“A present!? Cool! Let’s open it!” Naruto’s hands went out to reach it, but Iruka quickly swiped the box away.

“Naruto! It’s wrong to open a present before Christmas.” Iruka completely disregarded last year’s present…

“That’s not what the tag says…” Naruto pointed.

Iruka looked down to where Naruto was pointing and saw a red tag attached to the green ribbon.

OPEN BEFORE XMAS

Iruka looked at the small present, then back at Naruto’s pleading eyes. He really was cute when he did that…

“Fine. We’ll open it.”

“YAY!”

Iruka smirked and walked over to his living room table, where he gently placed the package. Iruka nodded to Naruto, who proceeded to pull the ribbon off in one swift move. Suddenly, the box exploded with a loud pop, throwing gold confetti in every direction. The two ninja stood in stunned silence, watching the confetti settle until their eyes rested upon the gift itself.

It was a big glass Christmas tree ornament, with a scarecrow in Santa clothes hanging in the middle, and snowflakes painted onto the side. Once again the gift started automatically. A small white speaker on the top of the ornament, where the hook came out, played an ethereal-like violin piece, in an unfamiliar melody Iruka had never heard before. A tiny projector in the base illuminated the ornament like a disco ball, giving the effect of a snowstorm similar to a snow globe, while the scarecrow in Santa garb spun in place.

Naruto suddenly perked up and walked out of the room, unnoticed by his awed sensei. When Naruto returned, he held in his hand Iruka’s snow globe, which was also playing music. He set the snow globe next to the ornament, and Iruka suddenly noticed why. The two gifts were playing in perfect harmony, with the snow globe doing most of the melody and the glass ornament doing the accompaniment. The two ninja stayed in a hypnotic gaze at the dancing lights and calming music until Iuka saw a green card among the gold confetti.

He brushed of the debris and opened the card, reading the silver text inside.

Dear Iruka-sensei,

It was nice to formally meet you. I hope we can see each other again soon next Christmas Eve. Maybe then I can learn more about you…and you can learn more about me.

Merry Christmas Iruka-sensei

Iruka read the note again. What!? We’ve already met? The thought of meeting this secret Santa finally sunk in.

“…-sensei?...Iruka-sensei!” The chuunin came out of his daze to see a frustrated Naruto.

“When do I get to open my present? You got to open yours early!” Iruka pinched himself in between his eyes for a moment and sighed. Then in his best sensei voice responded, “Not until after breakfast tomorrow.”

“WHAT!?” Iruka promptly covered his ears and took some asprin while the little fox boy complained. Hopefully he would tire himself out…hopefully…

***Year 3***

Another year, another Christmas. Iruka was happy to get a break from teaching and spend some more time with Naruto. The little blonde prankster certainly was growing up, and Iruka had nothing but high hopes for the aspiring genin.

So much had happened in the past year. Team 7 went through their first A-ranked mission, the Chuunin Exams were rigged by Sand and Sound, and Sandaime was killed. But Iruka tried looking on the bright side of things. Naruto was making friends, Iruka was making friends, and he got a new house. Iruka smiled at his new living space, definitely content at the more spacious accommodation. This was also important because he was expecting company again, at least more than last year.

There was a loud knock on the door. Iruka smiled as he walked over to answer it, at least he remembered to knock this time. The chuunin cheerfully opened the door and greeted his guests. “Merry Christmas Naruto, Sakura, Sasuke…and Kakashi-sensei?” They all smiled and waved, except Sasuke of course, who explained the situation.

“He followed us here because he thought there’d be food…” Iruka’s eyebrow twitched a bit. It wasn’t a secret that Iruka…well to put it lightly…had trouble with Kakashi. Sometimes they could be friends, and sometimes Iruka wanted to throw a kunai right into Kakashi’s head. But…’tis the season, right?

“Ah…okay, well Kakashi-sensei, you are welcome to join us.”

Naruto groaned as Kakashi bowed politely. “Thank you Iruka-sensei.” Iruka was a little more than surprised by this rare sign of courtesy Kakashi had just given. But he shrugged it off and ushered everyone inside his new home.

The homey scent of tea leaves lingered in the air of Iruka’s pastel green living room. Small wreaths, Christmas lights, and a big tree gave the space a holiday flair to the peaceful surroundings.

“I must say, this is a nice house Iruka-sensei. How did you afford it?” Kakashi questioned.

Iruka blushed at the recognition. “Well, teaching and sorting missions does have its perks.” The two ninja smiled in a moment of silence. Meanwhile, the students that were present whispered gleefully to each other in the background…well, at least Naruto and Sakura…Sasuke just listened.

The night continued with the usual holiday fare. Tell stories, drink hot cocoa and cider, talk about random stuff, play games, and just have fun. Iruka found himself having a lot of fun with Kakashi in particular, who seemed a lot happier and more cheerful than usual. Iruka liked this side of Kakashi, this softer more gentle side that somehow made him smile.

When it finally came time to leave, everyone said their goodbyes. Naruto was wiped, Sakura was saddened, Sasuke was…Sasuke…and Kakashi seemed upset. Iruka wished the kids a happy holiday as they made their way out the door into the night. At least they’d see each other tomorrow morning.

When the kids had left, Iruka smiled as he shut the door and returned to his living room. He froze when he saw Kakashi suddenly hovering near him. “Uhhh…Kakashi-sensei…what are you doing here? Did you forget something?”

Kakashi’s visible eye seemed to swirl with mixed emotions. He paused before he spoke, “…actually, I did forget something…” Then he promptly pointed upwards. Iruka looked at the ceiling and noticed a small bushel of mistletoe.

Before he could even react, Kakashi’s unmasked lips locked onto Iruka’s. Iruka stood wide eyed and still, not even moving when Kakashi pulled away and lifted his mask back up. Iruka caught the quickest glimpse of Kakashi’s face and didn’t notice anything wrong with it. In fact, it was beautiful.

Before Iruka even had a chance to say anything, Kakashi leaned in next to Iruka’s ear. His hot breath made Iruka shiver as Kakashi purred, “That was my present to you this year Dolphin…Merry Christmas…”

Iruka stared as Kakashi casually walked out the door, leaving a shocked and confused dolphin behind. Kakashi was the mystery gift giver!? Even more surprising…he liked Iruka…more than a friend…

Iruka fell back into a plush chair and sat there for a long time, thinking over what had just happened. He had just kissed Kakashi! Kakashi! Iruka’s breath quickened at the realization of what was going on. Did he like Kakashi that way too? Of course he liked Kakashi…but…like that?

Iruka replayed the moment again in his head. Kakashi’s soft lips against Iruka’s, his warm tongue dancing over Iruka’s mouth--!! Iruka felt a slight trickle down his nose and a bulging in his pants…

Ashamed of himself, Iruka rushed to the bathroom and locked himself inside. There he stayed the rest of the night, masturbating his dick until he slumped over, exhausted from so much self-pleasure…

‘Twas a Merry Christmas indeed…

Summary: Kakashi invites Iruka out for a friendly drink

“Class Dismissed.”

The sound of scraping chairs, chatting kids, and scurrying feet filled the classroom. In a moment though, it was all over. Iruka leaned back in his chair tilting it against the wall. He covered his eye with his hand and groaned.

Today had been a long day. Konohamaru pulled twice as many pranks as usual because it was his birthday. Miko only made things worse by asking about sex. That created a whole irruption of question Iruka wasn’t willing to answer, giving Konohamaru the perfect chance to sneak out of class.

After rounding up the little monster, Iruka still needed to calm the class down from their sexual curiosities, so he just bought them a bunch of muffins to shut them up (AN: Yay muffins and jbmcdragon!), which in turn took out of his “Naruto” fund. No ramen tonight Naruto…

Iruka simply laid back in his chair, resting his eyes from the utterly exhausting day. Suddenly, Iruka sensed a prickly feeling, as if someone was watching him. He opened his eyes a little and found another eye staring right back at him, only inches from his face.

“WAAAGH!” Iruka’s sudden movement caused the chair to fall rather ungracefully on its side, with Iruka toppling out just before it hit the ground. The intruder only managed to suppress a simple “Yo!” and held up a hand as a sign of greeting.

“What do you mean ‘Yo’?!” the academy teacher yelled. In a split second though, he was already steadying himself. “…um, what are you doing here Kakashi-sensei? Can I help you with something?”

Kakashi was still bent over from looking at the chuunin sleeping, so he straightened himself and coughed into his fist, “Yes…hm, well…” Iruka just stared back at the jounin as he got up off the floor and put the chair back.

Kakashi scratched the back of his head and looked at the ground before speaking. “Uh…I was wondering if you’d…um…like to get a drink with me tonight…”

Iruka looked at the copy nin with a confused face. “A drink? …with me?” There was a moment of silence before he asked, “…why?”

“No real reason…” Kakashi smiled. “I was just seeing if you were available so we could hang out together…sorry to bother you, I’ll be going now…” Kakashi turned to leave, but his sleeve was pulled from behind.

The elite jounin turned his head to see Iruka smile brightly and nod. “I would love to go out tonight Kakashi-sensei.”

Kakashi blinked, and Iruka could almost see his face get a little brighter. “Okay…well…should I get you at around, eight?”

Iruka nodded again and smiled. “Eight sounds perfect!” Kakashi just stared wide eyed at the academy teacher before disappearing in a puff of smoke.

Iruka smiled inwardly. He never really knew that much about the mysterious Copy Nin of Konoha, and now was his chance. He could even get to be friends with him…and maybe even see what’s under that mysterious mask of his…

- - - - - - - -

“Yo. Are you ready?” Iruka gasped when he opened the door. Kakashi was wearing a very tight black sleeveless shirt, probably his ANBY shirt, which exposed his lean muscled arms and ANBU tattoo. He also wore even tighter looking black leather pants, and in place of his headband was a silky black sash. His mask and metal plated gloves were the same as always, but also black.

Iruka swallowed. Kakashi looked good. Really good. Iruka was wearing a black t-shirt with loose dark denim jeans. Hey, black was in this month. Even the ribbon that held up his ponytail was black.

“Well, should we go?” Iruka nodded furiously, trying to shake the thoughts from his head. Ever since he turned twenty, he was able to control his sexual urges and ignore his orientation. Iruka knew he was gay, he liked men.

The walk to the bar was quiet. Iruka didn’t know where Kakashi was taking him, so he stayed close behind, admiring the copy nin’s body. Kakashi’s was pretty thin, but the shirt he wore clearly defined his muscles, and those arms looked pretty strong too. His eyes occasionally traveled south to Kakashi’s ass, which looked incredible behind tight leather jeans.

“We’re here.” Iruka snapped out of his trance and looked at the sign in front of him. The Sakura Bar. He remembered hearing something about this place, but he couldn’t remember what.

“Are you okay to go in here?” Iruka looked at Kakashi with a confused smile.

“Of course I am! I’ll go wherever you go!” Iruka noticed the completely shocked expression Kakashi’s eye was giving him, but only for a few seconds.

Kakashi led the way into the bar. It was a fairly big place, and fairly crowded. Most of the people were on the colorful dance floor, moving along to techno pop. It was pretty dark where they were, so Iruka grabbed Kakashi’s hand for guidance. Iruka could feel Kakashi tense when they held hands, but they continued moving to a bar counter in a quieter better lit alcove of the room.

They took a seat at the counter. Iruka looked to the dance floor, where all of the spinning colors and sound originated from. He watched as the massive crowd jumped, swerved, yelled, and spun to the music. It was pretty dark, so he couldn’t see the dancers themselves very well, but he noticed everyone was having fun.

“Hey Kakashi! You want the usual?” The bartender came by, flashing a toothy grin. His black hair almost drooped over his face, with small highlights of purple in between strands. He wore a dark green open buttoned shirt with a layer of fishnet underneath, giving a good look at his toned abs, and had on a pair of dark camo pants.

The bartender suddenly gasped in delight. “Oh! This is the one you were telling me about isn’t it Kakashi? The elusive Dolphin!” Iruka suddenly fixed his gaze on Kakashi.

“I’m so proud of you Kakashi! You’re finally embracing your lifestyle!” As the bartender babbled on, Iruka could see Kakashi was pissed. Really pissed. And he was reaching for his sash.

“Whoa! No need to pull out the big guns! Although I don’t think I would mind much...” Iruka was surprised the bartender’s reaction was a smiling wink. “I’ll just go get you some sake.” Then he walked off to the other end of the bar.

“Umm…what was that about?” Kakashi didn’t respond, and looked the other direction to the dance floor. Iruka frowned a bit and stood up. Kakashi sensed this and flipped around to face the chuunin, but he wasn’t there. He was gone.

Kakashi slammed his face onto the counter. “Dammit! …I’m such an idiot…” He cupped his hands over his ears and clenched his eyes shut, trying to block out the sadness.

He felt a hand touch his back. “Kakashi-sensei, are you alright?” The jounin flung up to see Iruka sitting on his right side instead of his left.

“I-Iruka-sensei! You’re back!” Kakashi was overwhelmed with happiness.

The academy teacher smiled a little awkwardly and tilted his head. “Uh…what are you talking about? I never left, I just moved to the other side of you.” Kakashi was glad he was wearing a mask, because his face suddenly felt very hot.

“Wait—why did you even move in the first place?”

Now it was Iruka’s turn to blush. “…because I couldn’t really see the…visible part of your face.”

It was a regular blush fest, Kakashi felt the blood rush to his cheeks yet again. “Oh…you wanted to see my face…”

“No no, it’s okay if you don’t want to…” But before Iruka knew it, Kakashi had pulled down his mask.

……

“Uh, Iruka-sensei? Your nose is bleeding a bit.”

Fuck! The flustered sensei hastily buried his face in his arms. A couple of embarrassing seconds of nose wiping later, Iruka faced Kakashi with a nervous grin. “Sorry about that! I stumbled and hit my nose on the counter when I moved.”

“Oh. Are you alright Iruka-sensei? Do you want me to take a look at it?”

……

Dammit, this was too much! Not only was Kakashi totally hot under his mask, with his straight defining features, his laid back expressions, and heart melting smile, but the look on his face when he was caring was…just TOO much to bear. It was mostly the eyes, those big almost forlorn eyes that showed so much emotion.

Shit.

Iruka covered his nose and nodded that he was alright. Actually he wasn’t alright, he was in heaven. He was definitely going to have severe blood loss if things kept going like this, and he just wanted to have a friendly drink. That’s all. Iruka didn’t even know if Kakashi was into guys.

Then it hit him. Was he really going to ask Kakashi if he was gay? He can’t just ask –the- Sharingan Kakashi about his preferences in sex! The results could be…Iruka shivered.

“Wow Kakashi! I’m gone for only a minute and you already have your mask down! Moving pretty fast don’t ya think? Your ‘friend’ looks a bit flustered.” The friendly bartender set down a bottle of sake and two cups.

“Hope you don’t mind, I just brought the fuckin’ bottle…you might need it.” The slim muscled man winked at Kakashi, who was once again giving him the death glare and reaching for his sash. But before he could do anything, the bartender turned to the tanned shinobi sitting next to him.

“Hi, my name’s Kimasu Koppu. Nice to meet you…uh…” He extended his hand to Iruka, who still finishing cleaning his nose.

“Iruka Umino” the embarrassed chuunin said, and shook the other’s hand.

Kakashi interrupted their little introduction though. “Don’t listen to Kimasu. He’s a dick.”

Kimasu grinned playfully. “Hey, at least I like dicks!” If Iruka was drinking right then, which he was glad he wasn’t, he would have spit it all out. All he did was cough though.

“Oh!—So, you’re gay?” Kimasu looked dumbfounded.

“…what are you talking about? Of –course- I’m gay! This is a gay b-”

Kakashi’s deadly whirling Sharingan stared him right in the face. For the first time since Iruka had met Kimasu, his smile disappeared and was replaced by uneasy fear. But of course, the smile was back, and with a hint of realization.

“OH! I get it! He-…oh!......I think I see some customers who aren’t hammered yet, excuse me.” And he briskly walked off to spread the alcohol.

“hm…I see your friendship isn’t the most stable one…” Kakashi nodded while covering up his left eye.

“Yeah well…we’ve known each other since we were little and……nevermind. I really need some sake right now.” Kakashi started pouring while Iruka nodded. “Me too.”

As they drank, the music changed. It was a slow dance, and Iruka could make out couples dancing on the floor. The lights were dimmed down even lower too, and he could barely make out any defining features.

Then Iruka’s gaze traveled back to Kakashi. He looked right to the face. He studied every inch of it, because he didn’t know if he was ever going to have the chance to see it again. Those lazy eyes just looked so deep, as if hiding something behind them. His mouth, his ears, his nose, his hair, he studied everything, and admired. Only when Kakashi wasn’t looking of course.

All of that combined with Kakashi’s mostly exposed body made Iruka shiver, and drink even more sake. He didn’t care if he got a hangover, he hadn’t had a drink in a long time, and he –really- needed one. Why did Kakashi have to look so good?

Iruka was thankfully calmed down a bit from the alcohol, because he had started chatting away with Kakashi about his classes, missions, daily news, gossip, blah blah blah. Pretty soon, they were having fun and just enjoying each other’s company.

Before they knew it, it was already 11:30, and Iruka had classes in the morning. Suddenly, a hangover didn’t bode so well with him.

“Ah, sorry Kakashi-sama, it’s getting late. I should get going.”

The jounin nodded, if a little slowly. “Yeah…I guess you have classes tomorrow, huh?” Iruka nodded back. Things went so well tonight, he felt like he really got to know Kakashi.

Then, everything came tumbling back. He needed to know Kakashi’s orientation. Iruka was really excited that they could be friends after this, but Kakashi was just too good to be only friends. He was handsome, he was smart, he was funny, and even charming in his own way. It was at that point Iruka realized he was falling in love.

Before either of them could stand up though, Iruka spoke in a smooth low voice. “Kakashi-sensei…I wanted to ask you something…”

Kakashi’s low rough voice responded. “Hai?”

Iruka’s mind battled for a moment before continuing on. “I was wondering…if you…”

“Hai?”

Iruka couldn’t stand it, he had to stop before he made a fool of himself. But how else was he going to know for sure? His heart was thumping loud in his throat. Hell!

“A-Are you gay?”

SHIT! That came out all wrong! It totally sounded insulting, and Iruka could feel the quiet tension between them now. There was a stunned awkward silence, and Iruka couldn’t stand it.

“I-I’m so sorry Kakashi-sama. I don’t know what came over me. I’m really drunk, and really tired…” The silence continued.

“…I’m going to go to bed. I’m sorry I kept you up this late.” Iruka bowed slightly and turned to leave, but a gloved hand pulled his arm back and spun him back around.

Iruka couldn’t bear to look into Kakashi’s eyes. He didn’t want to see what they looked like, and yet, he needed to know. His eyes drifted from the floor where he had been staring and up to Kakashi’s face.

Iruka couldn’t exactly read Kakashi’s expression, because it looked sad, and happy, but concentrating at the same time. Even his eyes were looking somewhere far off, but eventually focused on Iruka.

“…y-yes.” Iruka took a while to process the answer, but still couldn’t respond. He just stayed there looking at Kakashi.

“…yes. I’m…gay.” For a moment there was no response.

“You’re not just saying that because you’re drunk are you?”

“…no. I really like guys.” Iruka slowly sat down again while Kakashi released his hand cautiously.

“…do you like me?” The song playing in the background ended to switch tracks.

When no answer came, Iruka asked again, looking into Kakashi’s fearful eyes. “Do you like me?”

Iruka could hear Kakashi’s quiet shaky breath as the jounin looked down at the floor. “…yes, I do…a lot.”

The music played something slow and quiet in the background, but neither shinobi listened. “I can understand if you don’t want to be friends anymore…”

Kakashi could hear Iruka’s breathing too as he looked down at the floor. “You’re right…I don’t want to be friends anymore….”

Kakashi felt his heart shatter, and his eyes clenched shut. He tried to be strong, and not cry. He knew the chances of rejection were high, because the world just didn’t like him, didn’t like who he was.

He felt Iruka pull his face up. He couldn’t look at Iruka right now, he just needed to be alone. Kakashi had a crush on Iruka ever since the first time they met, which was just a normal staff meeting at the academy. Kakashi’s hopes were withering away when Iruka’s calm soothing voice entered his ears.

“I don’t want to be friends…I want to be more than that…” Kakashi felt a pair of soft lips brush past his cheek. He opened his grey and red eyes to see Iruka’s dark brown ones.

He heard him speak again. “I want to be lovers.” Then Kakashi watched as Iruka leaned in to kiss him on the lips. His mind took a while to register what had happened, but once he realized, his eyes drifted shut to take in the kiss.

Kakashi opened his mouth willingly to let Iruka explore, and the chuunin gladly deepened the kiss. They both leaned closer together as the kiss got more intense, more full of love and lust. Pretty soon they were standing, bodies pressed together tightly, and desperately panting while they tasted each other, and smelled each other. Their arms traveled across their bodies, with Iruka holding Kakashi over the shoulders and around the neck, and Kakashi grasping Iruka’s hips and backside.

They rubbed against each other in painful pleasure, feeling the heat from the pit of their stomach grow. They also felt a heat inside their heart, an unexplained sensation that brought them joy and happiness.

Kakashi suddenly broke the kiss, and he already missed the hot slick taste of Iruka’s mouth. “Should we continue this at my place?”

Iruka nodded furiously.

Kakashi nodded in agreement and quickly paid the tab. Then he grabbed Iruka’s hand and teleported to his apartment.

*They spent the night ravaging each other senseless, but it wasn’t because of the alcohol. The alcohol was only the enabler. The real reason was a secret love, and they were both happy it wasn’t secret anymore. :)*

Genma: Oi! Raidou! Do you see what I see?

Raidou: It depends on where you’re looking. Are you looking at the hot couple making out over there?

Genma: *bonks Raidou’s head*

Raidou: Ow! Hey!

Genma: Dobe, stop acting like some sort of thick pound cake made out of lead, this is a bar! There are people making out everywhere! I’m talking about the specific couple over there. *points to secluded bar alcove*

Raidou: *squints* Oh I see!…So?

Genma: SO?! Do you even know who those guys are?!

Raidou: ……

Genma: That’s –the- Sharingan Kakashi and academy teacher Iruka-sensei making out over there!

Raidou: *eyes widen* No kidding? Kami! I never would have expected that out of…either of them!

Genma: Hey Rai, isn’t this the place where –we- had our first kiss? *smirks seductively*

Raidou: Well duh! This is a gay bar! Don’t you remember this is also the place where we first got together, ever?

Genma: …oh yeah……this is makin’ me hot…

Raidou: …yeah, me too…

Genma: …wanna go back to my place and fuck?

Raidou: Hell no! After the mess we made in your bedroom after the incident with the strawberry flavored condoms, pink fuzzy handcuffs, and schoolgirl outfit? I don’t think we’ll be rummaging through –your- sex toys again! We’re going back to –my- place!

Genma: Aaaaawww…and I was hoping I could use the whip and feather butt plug this time…

Raidou: …there is something seriously wrong with you Genma...seriously…*grabs Genma’s hand and poofs to the apartment*

~End~

A/N: Just a little one-shot! I’ve recently become very interested in GenmaxRaidou, ever since jbmcdragon’s Vol.3 of ‘you know what’. I was really excited when I watched the English dubbed Naruto on Saturday and got to hear Raidou’s English voice (sexy and steamy hot!), so now I can read fics with that voice in mind! Anyway, hope you liked it!

Part 4

…Iruka didn’t remember opening the window…

There was a small click as the door to his bedroom began to unlock. At lightning speed, Iruka grabbed a shuriken off his nightstand. The doorknob turned and the door was opened. Iruka threw the shuriken as hard as he could, but the door quickly closed and was hit by the oncoming shuriken.

Iruka reached for his kunai this time, but as he turned to throw it a strong hand grabbed Iruka’s wrist. He struggled to stab the intruder, but the weapon was quickly knocked away. Both ninja were locked in a struggling hand battle, before Iruka looked aggressively at the shinobi in front of him.

It was hard to make out in the darkness of his bedroom, but in the moonlight the intruder looked almost like……no. He was dreaming again. Iruka’s mind was playing tricks on him.

Iruka struggled to break free of the other’s grasp, but the hand held Iruka’s arm firmly in place. “……I said…I’m sorry…”

Iruka immediately froze. Those words. That voice. That low raspy voice. Was this a dream?

“…Y-…You’re dead! You were killed in the explosion! You can’t be real!” Iruka tried again to release himself from his hallucination, but it only pushed him forcefully back into the bed. His scars and burns stung from the impact.

Iruka closed his eyes and tried to return to reality. “…Iruka look at me…” He only shut his eyes tighter, trying to ignore the imaginary voice. “…Look at me!”

Iruka subconsciously opened his eyes. Above him was Kakashi, pinning him down to the bed. At least, that’s what Iruka thought……could it be a ghost?

“……H…How..?” Kakashi’s ghost understood. “When the explosion caught up with us, I knew you couldn’t outrun it with me on your back. I used all of my remaining strength and chakra to teleport to my apartment. I was pretty much dead, until Pakkun took care of me. He used all of my emergency ninja kits to get me cured and moving again...”

“Oh Kami, Kakashi! I’m so glad you’re alright! You need professional medical attention. We need to get you to a hospi—!”

“No.” The worried chuunin stopped what he was doing. “I need you to listen to me…” The dark haired shinobi calmed down and sank back into the bed.

Iruka had suddenly realized something. His voice was lowered to a soft whisper. “Wait……why are you talking to me?”

The vision of Kakashi loosened his grip on the tan skinned ninja. He moved from his position above Iruka and sat down at the side of his bed, looking down at the cold dark floor.

“Well…that’s the other thing……I’ve been thinking……about before…” A sudden flashback ran through Iruka’s thoughts…”I’m sorry.”

The dark shape of Kakashi lowered his raspy voice and bent down with his head in his hands. “After our talk in the classroom, I felt angry and confused. I had no idea what to do…because I had never met a—…”

Kakashi looked at tilted his head and looked at Iruka. His voice wavered a little. “…person like you……and to find out you were…like that I—”

“Like what? I was like what?” Iruka glared at the silver haired jounin with a growl in his throat. “Gay? Is that the word you’re looking for?” Wetness blurred Iruka’s vision a little, but he quickly wiped it away.

“…yes, it was a complete and total shock for me…and I just needed some time to be alone…” Iruka’s hidden anguish started to grow.

“…you hurt me……you hurt me and pushed me away…” Iruka’s heart had already scarred. A cold hand grabbed onto the side of his head and started to wipe away the tears with a thumb. Iruka didn’t even realize he was crying until the hand started to brush warm wet streaks off his face.

Iruka flinched back into the wall and sat against it, releasing himself from the hand. He took another hard look at the being in front of him. It definitely looked like Kakashi…then he looked into his eyes.

The headband was pulled down, revealing a luminescent Sharingan. There was so much emotion in that complicated blood red eye. It started to become wet.

“You shouldn’t be scared of me Iruka…because I was the one scared of you. I was scared of the feelings I had......all of the new emotions…” Two gloved hands softly cupped Iruka’s face. “…I’ve been a fool. Please forgive me. I know I don’t deserve it…and I never should have ignored my feelings…” There was a momentary intake of breath. “……for you.”

The hands that held Iruka’s face pulled him into Kakashi’s. The kiss was sudden, but it quickly filled Iruka’s body with warmth. This was the real Kakashi. The Kakashi that survived the explosion. There was no doubt that this was the kiss he felt back in his classroom. But something was still off.

Moments later the kiss was hastily broken, and Kakashi went back into a crouched position on Iruka’s bedside. “……I……can’t……what am I doing? This just doesn’t feel……right…” Kakashi talked to himself softly and slowly. He sounded out of breath, his voice was raspy and shaky.

Iruka didn’t know what to do. He wasn’t entirely sure if this was just a dream or not. The lean muscled chuunin sat tangled half naked in his bed sheets. He reached out a hand and brushed the side of Kakashi’s mask. He felt the jounin go silent and shiver at the touch.

Iruka’s hand wandered to the top of Kakashi’s mask, and inserted a finger. Kakashi froze. The faint sounds of crickets and cicadas had died down to a murmur. Both shinobi could hear each others breathing, slow and unsteady.

The dark haired jounin slowly tugged down on the piece of cloth. He inserted two fingers to help remove the mask, but Kakashi’s hand once again caught Iruka by the arm. The fabric almost reached past the nose, and Iruka could see the scar on Kakashi’s eye continue down the side of his cheek.

There was a long pause before Kakashi’s hand started to help with removing the mask. Very slowly, they both removed the cloth in silence, and eventually it was past Kakashi’s chin.

Iruka was staring at the most handsome face he had ever seen. It was completely normal, except of course for the scar on his left eye. Besides that, Kakashi was beautiful.

Iruka swallowed hard as he explored Kakashi’s still face with his hands. His fingers traced Kakashi’s scar, traveling down soft smooth cheeks, and examining his simple but beautiful mouth.

Neither shinobi spoke. Iruka bent forward in his bed hesitantly. He leaned into Kakashi’s unmoving face, looking deep into his eyes. Those eyes, both dark grey and ruby, were now full of unknown fear.

He slowly brought his lips to Kakashi’s and softly kissed, his hands gripping the sides of Kakashi’s head.

Iruka felt the soothing silky white lips tighten as he moved his tongue tightly over the sensitive skin. It tasted sweetly of minty vanilla. Iruka slowly took himself away from Kakashi, letting the jounin take in what had just happened.

But before he could retreat all the way, Kakashi pulled the younger shinobi into a stronger more binding kiss. Their lips locked as Kakashi opened his mouth and slid his tongue into Iruka’s awaiting entrance.

Their tongues danced around their hot wet mouths, tasting each other’s essence. Iruka prodded deep into Kakashi. His slick tongue traveled quickly down Kakashi’s throat, causing the jounin to gag and hastily gasp for air.

“Shit...I’m so sorry…” Kakashi grasped his own throat and coughed, but held up a straight direct hand signal to stop. “No……” He grabbed Iruka’s hand and squeezed assuredly. “…I want this…”

The chuunin smiled softly before pulling his friend into another tight embrace, leaning in so that both ninja’s foreheads touched. Iruka shivered through Kakashi’s warmth.

“C--…can I?......What I mean is—“ Iruka inhaled sharply at the sudden heated contact of the other man’s lips. Before he knew it Kakashi had pulled away and whispered softly into his ear, “…yes, you can…”

The heat inside of Iruka began to build. The young chuunin spun around so that Kakashi was pinned to the bed instead. The older man went wide eyed as the tan shinobi quickly undid his vest and tossed it to the side. Iruka’s fingers began to feel the smooth lean muscles under Kakashi’s shirt.

Iruka ignored the pain from his earlier injuries, as he focused on a new burning sensation from within him. His hands pushed up Kakashi’s undershirt to pull it off, carefully maneuvering around Kakashi’s outstretched arms and head until it fell quietly to the floor. Nimble fingers traced the scarred pale skin that glistened in the moonlight, showing Kakashi’s chest briskly rise and fall.

Iruka suddenly stopped. His hands rested on Kakashi’s naked chest. The breathing was fast and unsteady like his heartbeat. Iruka felt a wave of guilt sweep through him. What gave him the right to do be this fast and aggressive with Kakashi?

Iruka slowly leaned up to Kakashi’s ear. He put his head beside the jounin’s, facing the other direction toward the pillows. “I’m sorry……I’ll go slower…”

Kakashi gave a small sigh of relief and nodded. Slow. That was what he wanted. Iruka had already licked his way down Kakashi’s bare stomach and inserted his tongue into Kakashi’s navel. The older man shivered.

Satisfied with Kakashi’s reaction, Iruka slowly removed the copy-nin’s pants. It took a while, but he finally flung it to the floor and started working on the boxers. Both of their heartbeats were racing; Iruka because he had always wanted to see the famous Copy Nin’s dick, and Kakashi because he had never shown another man his dick before.

Iruka removed the clothing slowly. He could smell Kakashi’s man scent from his boxers. Finally his gaze rested upon the half hard cock in front of him. It wasn’t too long, and it wasn’t too thick…it was…just beautiful. A bushel of silvery hair covered part of the area.

The chuunin pulled the boxers all the way off Kakashi’s muscled legs, staring at his dick the whole time. When he finally rid himself of the underwear, he firmly placed his hands around the base of the growing erection.

Kakashi’s breath hitched sharply. Iruka decided to loosen his grip, which gave Kakashi a chance to calm down. The feel of Kakashi’s cock in Iruka’s hand was amazing, but he wanted more. In fact, he skipped the stroking and went right to the next part, the sucking.

His tongue flicked the top of Kakashi’s penis, and traced down his shaft to the base. He could hear grunts coming from the jounin as he traced up and down the shaft with his tongue. The silky hardness began to harden even more, giving Iruka the chance to take it into his mouth.

There was a loud gasp. Kakashi placed his hand on Iruka’s head, tangling his battle worn fingers through soft brown strands of hair. His hands gripped tighter and tighter in Iruka’s hair, as the academy teacher took him in deeper and deeper with each swallow. It felt so good, all the hot wetness enclosing him, and the tongue that swirled so perfectly around his dick as Iruka’s head moved up and down. Kakashi tried thrusting into the chuunin’s mouth, abut was soon stopped by Iruka’s arm on his waist.

Iruka finally wrapped his mouth around Kakashi’s entire length. He choked a bit but quickly adjusted until he was able to get his nose deep down into Kakashi’s silver hairs. He inhaled the strong man scent that he had now fallen in love with. Then he noticed the signals.

Kakashi’s cock twitched. His breathing was loud and hard, and his fingers were playing absent-mindedly in Iruka’s tangled hair. But Iruka didn’t move. Kakashi tried to help his friend off with his hands, but it was already too late. He arched his back as the intense spasms overcame him, and he shot load after load into Iruka’s hot mouth.

The calm academy teacher swallowed every load, tasting the salty creamy hot liquid that poured down his throat. But it just kept coming, and pretty soon Iruka was gagging and letting cum trickle down his chin. When Kakashi finally stopped, Iruka swallowed all of the remaining cum in his mouth, letting the smooth warm texture soothe his throat, and pleasantly sucked the jounin’s cock dry.

Kakashi was panting and sweating hard. He couldn’t remember the last time he came that much. Or even IF he came that much. His hands pulled Iruka’s head up from his pelvis to let his wet weeping cock settle.

Iruka smirked a bit. “That was your first time with a guy?” Kakashi nodded, out of breath. Iruka smiled even more and leaned over so their bodies were pressed against each other.

“To tell you the truth, that was a first for me too.” Kakashi’s eyes widened in complete shock. No way! That was just too good to be a first.

“I’ve been practicing on popsicles, hot dogs, and other long thick foods for quite some time now, but I’ve never tasted and actual cock before.”

Iruka glanced back at Kakashi’s member. “And let me just say yours tasted great.” Kakashi actually felt a little thrill from those words. He couldn’t be entirely sure if he was gay or not. Sure he cared for Iruka more than anyone right now, and yeah he got a blowjob, but it didn’t prove he was gay. The only test left was……

“Fuck me.” Iruka stared in blank embarrassment.

He half coughed a bit. “Um…what? Say that again?”

Kakashi looked up into Iruka’s dark brown eyes. “Fuck. Me.”

Iruka froze. Then he stuttered a bit. “Please……d-don’t blame me if I……go too…fast…”

Kakashi shook his head. “I promise.”

In a whirlwind of movement, Iruka’s clothes flew off and onto the floor. Kakashi got a quick look at Iruka’s tan hard cock before his face was covered with more kisses. He could taste his own cum inside Iruka’s mouth. He had never tasted cum before, and it tasted…weird. But it certainly felt good.

Iruka pulled back a little and put his forehead on Kakashi’s, looking worriedly down on him. “Hey, are you ready for this?” His voice was a near whisper, and Kakashi simply nodded. He couldn’t find any words right now.

Iruka nodded back and shifted their position. “Move your legs up and wrap around my waist. Yeah, like that.” Kakashi pondered how Iruka had known how to do this without any previous experience.

“I did it once with a girl, but I didn’t like it…” Iruka couldn’t read minds, could he? Nah, must have been Kakashi’s expressions.

Both ninja were readily in position. Kakashi wrapped his arms around Iruka’s neck and squeezed tightly. Iruka could only smile. “Don’t be scared.” The soothing whisper of the academy teacher somehow calmed Kakashi’s nerves. It wasn’t until he felt a hot throbbing member prodding at his entrance that he pulled himself tighter into Iruka’s chest.

“…this will probably hurt. I was thinking of doing it slow, but I can’t hold back any more, and I’ll probably come before we get anywhere. So let’s just get this over with okay? On the count of three, I’m moving in all the way.” Kakashi started to panic. He pulled Iruka closer to him than ever and buried his face in the tan man’s scarred chest.

“…One.” Kakashi’s heart started to race, and his body started to sweat.

“…Two.” The jounin inhaled and held his breath, squeezing Iruka tighter.

“….Three!” Iruka plunged into Kakashi’s virgin hole, all the way to the hilt. Kakashi yelled out in plain, but muffled his own screams with the back of his knuckled hand. His teeth dug into his hand, leaving deep red bite marks, but not bleeding.

He tried to steady his breathing, inhaling and exhaling slowly. He couldn’t believe it, Iruka was inside him. The mere thought sent shivers down Kakashi’s spine. So this is what it feels like to be fucked. It’s definitely painful, but it also feels kind of good…in a weird sort of way…

After he adjusted, Kakashi pushed his hips back onto Iruka’s, signaling to proceed. The movement started off slow and subtle at first. Kakashi looked up into Iruka’s eyes and noticed the immense restraint he was going through to keep from fucking Kakashi’s brains out. “You’re so…tight…” was all Iruka could say.

They slowly rocked back and forth on the bed, feeling the new sensations that swept through them. Kakashi leaned up and nibbled on Iruka’s earlobe, causing the young chuunin to moan. Kakashi moved down to Iruka’s jaw and started to nip and cuddle the skin.

Pretty soon, the pace had quickened and the thrusts became stronger. They were now moving at a brisk pace, panting and moaning with each defined thrust. Kakashi’s erection had already come back, and was rubbing against both shinobi’s stomachs.

Just the pure feeling of Iruka moving inside of Kakashi made him so…connected. He could feel their bodies moving together in a steady rhythm, moaning each other’s names in agony and ecstasy.

Those feelings started to build inside of Iruka too, as he started to pound harder and faster into his lean older friend. He tried to speak through his rhythmic panting. “...I……love……you……I…love…you. I love you. Oh Kami! I love you Kakashi!”

A guttural moan from deep in Iruka’s throat escaped his lips as he gave a few more pounding thrusts. Kakashi could feel hot creamy liquid pouring into him as Iruka pounded. Iruka moved his lips to Kakashi’s and pressed incredibly hard into his lips.

Their tongues once again tasted each other while Iruka kept filling Kakashi up. It sent Kakashi over the edge. Kakashi arched his back and yelled out Iruka’s name in a deep moan. The cum spread across their muscled bodies, moving back and forth as Iruka finally finished emptying himself into the jounin.

Iruka collapsed onto Kakashi, both of them coming down to earth. Their muscles were weak, and their bodies were tired and stiff.

“Hey...” Kakashi looked down at Iruka, who was still inside him.

“Yeah?”

Iruka slid out of Kakashi and moved close to his side. “I love you. Do you love me too?”

Kakashi looked at Iruka. He looked at him in the rising daylight. Iruka had the most handsome face Kakashi had ever seen. His muscled body was perfectly toned and scarred, and his voice was low and soothing. He was the cutest guy Kakashi had ever met.

“Yeah…I love you too.” He just never realized it until now. Love can be so confusing sometimes. He leaned down to place a kiss on the younger man’s forehead. Both of them scooted under the covers and cuddled. As the bluish darkness outside started to turn purple, they peacefully drifted off to sleep in each other’s arms.

The room was glowing with yellowish colors when Iruka woke up. His eyes fluttered open and his hand wandered to the other side of the bed. It was warm, but there was no Kakashi. Iruka frowned as he dazedly rubbed his eyes.

He blinked hard a few times and saw Kakashi hunched over at the foot of the bed fully clothed. Iruka struggled to lean up and crawl over to Kakashi, blankets covering his naked body. Kakashi looked up at Iruka for a moment, then looked back at the clenched fists in his lap.

“This is just…so new to me. I didn’t even know I was gay.” Iruka placed a hand on Kakashi’s shoulder.

“I knew since I was twenty. Trust me, it’s hard to get used to. After the first month though, everything is so clear to you…” Iruka kept smiling that calming smile of his, and his soothing voice pierced Kakashi’s heart.

Kakashi unclenched his fists and looked up at Iruka. “I’m so sorry for before…it was just so confusing and—”

Iruka hugged Kakashi. The jounin stopped talking and hugged him back. “I forgive you.”

Kakashi broke away and stood up before he could start crying, and once again his feeling under his nonchalant behavior. “Hey, I have to go tell everyone I’m not really dead. Won’t that be a surprise?”

Iruka looked up at Kakashi, still softly smiling. “Kakashi, you’re full of surprises…”

Kakashi scratched the back of his neck and curved his eyes up. “Yeah…I know.”

Iruka shook his head as Kakashi made his way out the door. But the silver haired man stopped in the doorway, one hand on the door frame. He turned around and once again showed Iruka a face of kindness and warmth. “Hey……thanks……for everything.”

The sun rose higher into the sky as the two lovers looked deep into each other’s eyes. Yes. They were lovers. And they wanted it to stay that way. They were finally happy.

Chapter 7: Underneath

Rated: *PG-13*

A shinobi is always supposed to look underneath the underneath. Thankfully for Kakashi and Iruka, Konoha was oblivious…

“Wow Iruka-sensei, you look really happy today!” The chuunin blushed heavily and scratched the back of his head in embarrassment. He remembered the night before with Kakashi……or did he? His mind had been so wiped after that event, he nearly forgot everything. His mind could only trace back to the jar full of Kakashi and Iruka’s sem—

“Uh…thank you Kurenai-san!” Iruka tried to just forget about it for now and remember it at the right moments. The red eyed kunoichi was smiling, but within a second’s notice, the tan chuunin had disappeared. Kurenai blinked a few times and looked around the Mission Office hallway where they had been standing. ‘Where did Iruka-sensei go?’

- - - - - - - -

“Kakashi-sensei! What the hell was that for?!” The silver haired jounin was glaring mysteriously at Iruka from across the room.

“Did you know it’s rude to kidnap people in the middle of a conversation?!” Iruka eyed Kakashi curiously before the other man finally spoke up.

“What were you doing with Kurenai?” The tan chuunin blinked a few times.

“I was talking to her of course!” Kakashi’s eye gave a strange glint. Iruka’s eyes widened as he suddenly realized what the jounin meant.

“KAKASHI! I can’t believe you! We’ve been together for eight months, I would never cheat on you!”

“…Never?”

“NEVER!!”

Kakashi lingered near the wall on the other side of the room before letting out a deep sigh. “I’m so sorry Iruka……it’s just that…lately I’ve been having some nightmares…”

Iruka seemed to calm down a bit. “…I keep dreaming your going to leave me some day…either by choice, by force, or by--…death.”

Iruka started to advance toward the jounin, worried at his lover’s thoughts, but stopped when he noticed Kakashi reach into his pocket. “I was scared that I’d never be able to give you this…”

A small black box no bigger than Kakashi’s palm was placed into Iruka’s hand. “I’ll be in my room if you need me…”

Iruka watched blankly as Kakashi casually walked away, then focused on the black box in his hand. It felt pretty light, and had no markings on it whatsoever. He held the bottom of the package firmly in one hand and carefully lifted the top off with the other.

There was a long silence. A single tear trickled down the side of Iruka’s cheek. It was quickly followed by another, and another, and pretty soon he was crying. He quickly covered his mouth with his hand to keep the sounds from escaping. Iruka’s whole body trembled as he looked at the object in the box.

It was a golden ring. The shape of a dolphin was engraved into the metal, with a small trail of glittering diamond across the dolphin’s nose. It closely resembled a scar, Iruka’s scar. Another diamond was lodged into the dolphin’s eye, while the word ‘Scarecrow’ was gracefully etched on the inside of the ring.

Iruka slowly slouched to the floor. His legs were weak and his knees were shaking. The hand, that covered his mouth moved up to his eyes. The back of Iruka’s hand blocked Iruka’s blurry vision, with his other hand clenched tightly around the box.

……

“…Kakashi.”

The jounin was leaning against the cold window, looking out at the cloudy rainy skies over the village and seeing the light patter of small water droplets against the glass. It seemed to always rain when he or Iruka experienced emotional stress. Today was no exception.

“Kakashi.”

Kakashi roused himself from his pondering and looked back at the slender chuunin in the doorway. “I’m so pitiful…” Iruka was silent, with the imminent leftovers of tears still hanging around in his eyes.

“…just look at me. I can never act like myself when I’m around you. I’m supposed to be the strong one…I’m supposed to be brave. Yet here I am in my room having a nervous breakdown and I can’t even propose to you right…” Kakashi looked at the floor in self-loathing, but Iruka looked at the beautiful emotional man he fell in love with.

“I wish I could have seen your face…”

There was a short pause. Kakashi sensed Iruka next to him, and heard him break the silence. “…then look at me.”

A warm hand brought Kakashi’s face to Iruka’s. Kakashi stared deep into the eyes of his lover, watching the warm chocolate orbs begin to melt and turn to tears. Kakashi felt his own eyes, both dark grey and ruby begin to water. To help end their crying, Kakashi pulled the back of Iruka’s next into a hasty kiss. Their mouths were warm and welcoming, but the fact they were ready for commitment just made everything so…different.

Iruka slowly pulled out, kissing gently on Kakashi’s lips before speaking. “I am never going to leave you…”

Kakashi nodded in response. “Me neither…”

They were just about to lean in for another embrace when Kakashi suddenly jumped up, almost knocking Iruka over. “SHIT! I FORGOT! I left my team out in the rain!”

A spark suddenly went off inside Iruka. “…wait…do you mean Team 7? As in Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura? That team?!” Kakashi tilted his head and saw the evil look in his lover’s eye. He couldn’t lie, because that would get him in more trouble. He couldn’t tell the truth because he’d just get scolded after that totally emotional moment.

Kakashi just stood there for a while, looking at Iruka’s death glare. *POOF!*

Kakashi couldn’t really be blamed if he went to go help Team 7 out faster instead of wasting time bickering at his apartment.

Iruka just closed his eyes, sighed and shook his head. When he opened his eyes, his gaze traveled back to the ring in his hand. It really was beautiful. Iruka stayed deep in thought for a little while longer before taking the ring and slipping it on the ring finger of his right hand.

- - - - - - - -

“I’m so sorry Kurenai-san!” The dark haired kunoichi turned to face the academy teacher that had suddenly appeared beside her.

“Oh hi Iruka-sensei! Not gonna disappear on me again are you?” she asked with a playful grin.

“Yeah, about that, I apologize, and I hope you’ll forgive me.” Iruka looked incredibly sorry and flustered.

“You are a funny one Iruka-sensei. It’s quite alright, I’m sure you had something important to get to, I mean it’s okay to have a social life. I swear, so times I think you’re being way too polite……?” Iruka looked at Kurenai curiously. Why did she stop talking? She looked very concentrated on something, and what was she looking at?

Suddenly the kunoichi exploded in a whirlwind of light and color. Were those hearts and flowers flying through the air……and was Kurenai actually singing? Just as suddenly as it had started, Kurenai scooted up close to Iruka, her eyes beaming with delight.

“Sooooo…? Who is she?”

Iruka stared at Kurenai’s glittering red orbs and blinked. “……what?”

“Don’t play DUMB with ME you secret-keeping asshole!” She grabbed Iruka’s right hand and held it up to his face. Iruka’s cheeks reddened at the sight of his engagement ring.

“…oh…uh…that…”

“What do you mean ‘oh…uh…that’? Who is she? Is she pretty? Is she nice? Is she someone I know? Have you had sex yet? Oooh! Tell me all the kinky details! Wait! Are you going to have a baby? Oh Kami! Will it be a girl or a boy?” With each passing second Kurenai’s face got brighter and brighter. So did Iruka’s, but not in a good way.

In all of Iruka’s confusion to the non-stop rapid fire question attack, he blurted out the first thing that came to mind. “He’s not a—…”

There was an awkward silence as both of them stopped talking. The people in the Mission’s Office peeked their head out into the hallway where the two shinobi were standing.

Shit.

“…Just…look, I have to get going now”, Iruka said with fingers pressed into the inner corners of his eyes, “…the Hokage wants me in his office.”

And without another word, Iruka simply walked off, not even bothering to teleport. Kurenai stood in shock and guilt, staring thoughtfully at the ground. Some whispers from the doorway caught her attention. “What the hell are you looking at?!”

The shinobi in the other room saw the raging fiery death in Kurenai’s furious eyes. One of them fainted. Yup, classic Genma. Another ninja carefully helped him into a nearby restroom to clean up. It was Raidou.

- - - - - - - -

“You wanted to see me Lord Hokage?”

The 3rd turned his attention toward Iruka, who had just entered the room. “Ah yes, Iruka! Good to see you!” A large smile covered the Hokage’s face.

“Is anything special happening Lord Hokage?” Iruka asked, noticing Sandaime’s expression and smiling back himself.

“Why yes there is actually, and that’s exactly why I called you here.” He cheerfully strolled over to his desk and started shuffling through a droor.

“..hm…I know it’s here somewhere…here we go!” The geezer took a very small scroll out of his desk and walked over to where Iruka was standing. Iruka held out his hand to accept the rolled up parchment, but noticed the Hokage had walked passed him.

The 3rd stopped in the doorway and faced Iruka with a mixed grin of relief and embarrassment. “Here is your mission…” Iruka waited with anticipation while the Hokage cleared his throat.

“…I need you to watch my office while I’m delivering this scroll, can you do that?”

Iruka nearly fell flat on his face when he stumbled. Was that really it?! Not even a genin was required for such a simple task! Had the Hokage lost faith in Iruka? He was a chuunin dammit!

“Um…Lord Hokage…may I ask why you even need your office to be watched?”

The old fart was already down the hallway shouting, “Thanks a bunch!”

The academy teacher shook his head in annoyance. Maybe he should become a jounin, just so people would respect him more.

Iruka wondered over to the Hokage’s desk to sit down. He knew it was disrespectful but: A) Sandaime was a nice enough guy and B) Nobody respected Iruka anyway. Especially Kakashi.

Before Iruka sat down, he looked at his hand again. He looked at the beautiful golden ring wrapped around his finger and thought of Kakashi. It had only now struck that he was really gonna get married, to a guy……’Kashi…

“Wait! Why am I always uke?!” Iruka sat down as he pondered the question.

Something was definitely wrong. The chair felt weird, almost too comfortable. Iruka shifted his weight and felt something hard rub against him. Did the Hokage leave a scroll here?

When Iruka nonchalantly reached back and grabbed it, he heard a small grunt. Suddenly two arms were wrapped around the chuunin, and a low raspy whisper heated Iruka’s ear. “Oooooh…you’re being so naughty Iruka-sensei!”

Iruka opened his mouth to yell in protest as usual, but a gloved hand muffled his anger. “Ha! I as prepared for that.”

The chuunin struggled to break free of Kakashi’s grasp, but heat of the jounin’s breath was already on the nape of his neck. “Sensei, if you keep struggling and moving like that, I won’t be able to restrain myself…”

Iruka stopped immediately. Nothing was more dangerous than a horny Kakashi.

When the Iruka calmed down, Kakashi released his hand from Iruka’s mouth. “What are you doing here anyway Kakashi?” The silver haired jounin toned down his playful mood and became more serious.

“I was thinking about you….about us…and our commitment.”

Iruka was once again reminded of the ring on his finger. “Yeah, me too…”

Iruka flipped around in his lover’s lap and nuzzled into his chest, inhaling Kakashi’s scent. It was so manly, with a touch of increased cleanliness and the smell of vanilla. Iruka pressed his ear to Kakashi’s chest, listening closely to the warm heartbeat. Two arms once again caressed Iruka, bringing him even closer to the jounin. Kakashi placed his head on top of Iruka’s and smiled contently. They both did.

The nuzzling continued for a few more minutes before something popped into Iruka’s head. He whispered softly, “Hey, I should get you a ring too!”

The younger man leaned to get up, but was pulled in again by Kakashi’s strong arms. “Wait. Don’t move…stay here…please…” Iruka smiled again and laid back down on Kakashi’s firm chest.

A few more minutes passed before Iruka began to really struggle. “Kakashi, let me go already! The Hokage could be back any second!”

The jounin was still. “Just a little longer…”

After a couple of second’s silence, the silver haired shinobi loosened his grip on Iruka. The chuunin was saddened from the loss of warmth and Kakashi scent, but relived from the loss of embarrassment it would have caused. “Took you long enough! Did you have to do it for so long? What if somebody saw--…”

Iruka could clearly see it. That look in Kakashi’s eye. That mixed glint of evil mischief and apologetic guilt. “What. Did. You. Do…”

“…*ahem*” Iruka tensed at the sound of the muffled cough behind him. He turned his head ever so slowly towards the source of the sound and prepared for the worst.

It was worse than the worst. Not only was the Hokage standing there, but, well, EVERYONE was standing there! All of the teachers, friends, and even students were stuffed into the room.

Iruka felt naked. If he weren’t so pissed off at Kakashi right now, he would be hiding in his lover’s arms and burying his face back into his chest. But Iruka noticed something else…lot’s of people were smiling…

The first thing to break the silence was, “…It’s about time!”

Genma. That prick. Thankfully, someone punched him really hard in the shoulder, which relived Iruka’s tension a bit. But it didn’t answer questions…

Iruka was about to ask some, but the chatting had already started. Everyone was talking about his relationship with Kakashi. Face fell into his hands. At what point had this gone spiraling out of control?

That familiar gloved hand guided Iruka’s face up. “Hey, don’t be embarrassed. They’re all completely fine with us. I told them because I didn’t want it to be a secret anymore. I wanted to marry you with our friends there.”

Iruka nodded and understood. He was back to being happy. And extremely relieved. But he opened his mouth again to ask—“Yes, Sandaime was in on it and helped gather the people to congratulate us. I haven’t announced our marriage yet, but I think I will soon…”

“Iruka-sensei! I’m so happy for you!” Naruto came running up to his former teacher and squeezed him hard. Iruka couldn’t help but blush. What do you expect? His former student found out he was gay and in love with his current teacher.

In fact, what did anyone expect? Iruka was so surprised to find everyone so happy and accepting, that he had to keep rubbing his eyes to keep from crying.

“IRUKA SENSEI! You are finally tasting the fruits of life!”

Damn. Iruka was hoping he wouldn’t show up. Maito Gai squeezed through the happy mingling crowd and walked up to Iruka. “See? It isn’t so hard to tell everyone your secret! I mean just look at me and Ebisu. We go together like—”

“WHAT?! You and EBISU?! You guys are gay?!” Iruka, Kakashi, and Naruto all yelled simultaneously. Gai just gave them a confused look.

“Well yeah, I’ve been telling you that for the past four months…”

Kakashi intervened this time. “You know we don’t listen to you! We thought you were kidding or doing something weird like you always do…”

“I’m going to ignore that statement Kakashi…because that’s what makes me a better gentleman than you, and a fitting rival.” Gai turned his attention back to Iruka and smiled his annoying toothy smile. “Sooo…I see you’re going out with my eternal rival! No need to worry, I totally accept it, but at least I know the reason for you’re guy’s *oversleeping*!” He marked his comment with quotation fingers at the appropriate time.

Kakashi scowled. “Oh shut up Gai. I’m sure you *oversleep* just as much as us.” He also added quotation fingers.

Naruto interrupted their bickering though. “…but Gai-sensei is always the first one up.”

The teachers all looked at each other. Then back at Naruto. Iruka spoke up. “Uh…Naruto, I had really hoped to wait longer for this to happen…but I think I need to give you……The Talk…”

Kakashi perked up. “Ooooh! Can I come too? I’m sure I could be a great resource!” Iruka gave his hardest glare at Kakashi, who immediately backed down. Iruka may not have as much physical strength, but his expressions could defeat even the famous Copy Nin of Konoha.

As Iruka started walking away with Naruto, Kakashi tugged on Iruka’s vest one more time. “Hey…I’m sorry for acting so rude lately. I’ve just been overly excited. I’ll make it up to you…so what do you want?”

Iruka wasted no time responding. “I want to be seme at least 25% of the time.”

Kakashi went white. “But……I’ve never been uke…EVER!”

Iruka smiled mischievously. “Well, there’s a first time for everything.”

Kakashi watched as the academy teacher moved through the crowd with Naruto, being congratulated over and over for his new relationship. Everyone was smiling, even Iruka. They laughed and talked about love. It was a happy ending. Well…almost…

- - - - - - - -

“Iruka…I’m scared…”

The naked chuunin tried to reassure the naked jounin below him. “Hey, I was scared too during my first time, but you get used to it after a while.”

“But…I’ve NEVER been fucked in my entire life! Will it hurt?”

Iruka paused and answered honestly. “Yes. But only for the first few times. After that, it starts to feel really good.”

Kakashi hesitated a bit, then nodded. “Okay…I’m ready…”

- - - - - - - -

“Hey guys! Sorry I’m late. A mythical dragon beast blocked my path so I had to slay the evil overlord and save the princess before the apocalypse…”

To Kakashi’s utter surprise, nobody in Team 7 yelled at him. Sakura only perked up. “Sensei, you don’t need to tell us lies anymore. We know that you *oversleep* a lot.” There were the annoying quotations again.

“Shut up. Hey, is Naruto alright?”

Naruto stared into space with lifeless eyes. He looked like he had just seen a--…

“Oh yeah…Iruka-sensei taught you sex-ed didn’t he?” The blonde kid nodded silently.

Finally, he spoke through his dazed trance. “I will never look at a muffin the same way again…”

It took Kakashi a little while to realize what exactly Iruka had taught him. Wow, he didn’t know Iruka knew any sex slang! “Well, if you ever need any help understanding some things, I’m right here.”

Naruto backed away a few feet and practically yelled “Oh no! Iruka-sensei told me about you! He told me everything you’ve tried to do him you sick…(well I guess pervert wouldn’t work on you anymore would it?)…”

“Nope!” The silver haired sensei smiled gingerly behind his mask. Yup, everything was going to be alright! Or was it?

“Hey…could you walk over here?” Kakashi looked at Sasuke, surprised that he even spoke and confused that he was speaking to him. He nonchalantly began following the Uchiha’s strange request when a sudden pain seared Kakashi’s backside.

He’d almost forgotten the night before. Oh gods that hurt. No wonder Iruka didn’t want to have sex with Kakashi as often he did. Kakashi had already gained new respect for the chuunin.

“Um…no, that’s alright, I’ll stay right here…” Kakashi tried to hide the pain in his voice, but obviously failed due to the increasing smirk across Sasuke’s face.

“You got fucked last night didn’t you?” A single drop of sweat went down Kakashi’s neck, and a blush had already started forming.

“Hey, give a guy a break…it was my first time!” Wow, Kakashi surprised himself by telling the truth and not running away. Iruka really was starting to have an affect on him. Iruka…

“Hey guys, want to know something I haven’t told anyone else in the village yet?” All the members of Team 7, including the almost unconscious Naruto, perked up attentively.

“Well, I was hoping that next month…Iruka and I could get married.”

A/N: Just so you know...this chappy is PG-13 for Angst and Brief Violence, sorry it's a flashback filler (I had some 'splainin' to do), sorry there's yet another cliffhanger, and sorry it's a little late...in general I pray you enjoy... *cross fingers* *prays to Kami*

Part 3

“…I’m sorry.” Kakashi’s body was engulfed into flames. His smooth white skin burned and charred until it tore off his body. The fire burned his bones until they cracked and exploded in the extreme pressure. His ashes scattered everywhere in the heat, singed to nothingness…There were no screams of pain or agony. Just silence. All that was left of Kakashi Hatake was the dust in the wind…the famous Copy-Nin of Konoha was gone…all because…

- - - - - - - -

Iruka screamed. Then there was silence again, save for the sounds of the villagers outside dampening the final fires from the night’s rampage. He blinked hard a few times, letting his eyes adjust to the darkness of his bedroom.

The nightmarish red glow was gone from Konoha, but the thick smell of smoke still lingered in the air. He shifted in his sheets and cringed when he felt the pains from his bandages ache.

It was lonely in his apartment. Iruka felt his chest tighten as he remembered the events from that night……

- - - - - - - -

“Do not blame yourself Iruka--”

“--but it was MY FAULT he didn’t come with me first, and it was MY ACTIONS that made him……” He covered his face with his hands and sobbed openly. Sandaime walked out from behind his desk to console the chuunin. It had been a hard and difficult time for Konoha.

Iruka felt Sandaime put a comforting hand on his back. He wiped his face in an attempt to keep from crying. “……I’m sorry Lord Hokage…”

“You have nothing to be sorry about. What have I told you about blaming yourself for things that were out of your hands? Although you disobeyed your specific orders, what you did was very noble. This has been a devastating loss for all of Konoha.” Iruka sat in the chair next to the Hokage, his head hanging down letting drops of water fall to the floor. He strained to hold back his tears.

“It’s okay to cry Iruka. We have all cried over these events at one time or another.” Iruka was silent, but the Hokage could see he got the message.

“I suggest you get some sleep, those wounds will heal up quicker that way…” The chuunin simply nodded and got up from his chair, wincing at the pain he felt from his injuries. He struggled a bow through his hurt, “Thank you Lord Hokage…”

Iruka stepped out of the Hokage's office. His head hurt from lack of sleep and his chest hurt from an abused heart. The young ninja gasped, as everything that had been happening dawned on him. He started to break into a run, rushing past all of the other mourning shinobi in black.

He eventually made it outside, where he took in the calming evening air. Iruka felt warm tears falling to the ground, and he fell to knees. The exhausted chuunin tried to hold back the sobs as he realized the truth.

Kakashi was gone.

- - - - - - - -

Iruka stared at the moonlit ceiling. It was silent now, the villagers had gone to bed in preperation of rebuilding Konoha in the morning. The only sounds were the high pitched chirps of crickets and cicadas. Iruka just couldn’t get rid of the guilt he was feeling in his heart. More memories of that terrible night flashed before his eyes…

- - - - - - - -

“…It looks like they’re gonna put his name on the memorial along with the others, but not for a few days.” Kurenai nodded at her lover’s statement. Everyone was gathered in the Hokage’s Tower, mourning the loss of innocent lives. They were all dressed in black.

“Iruka-sensei, are you okay?” Iruka opened his eyes from his entranced state. His eyes were already glistening with water. “Yeah…I’ll be fine……” Kurenai could see the emptiness in the youth’s clouded eyes, and gave an expression of worry and concern before Iruka was called.

“Iruka Umino. Please Report to the Hokage’s Office.” Iruka gave a small gasp when he heard his name announced, and tiredly walked out of the room.

“Poor thing. He looks like a zombie.” Asuma agreed. “Yeah. Well what do you expect? He was right there when Kakashi died, trying to save him when the Academy exploded.” Kurenai looked back at Asuma with grief and pure sadness in her ruby red eyes.

“Come here.” Asuma reassured, and took her in his strong arms. They stayed like that, holding each other close, just as other people all over the village held on to each other, grieving over the tragedy that befell their home.

“They still haven’t found his body” Asuma mentioned, “but they think it exploded from the intense heat and pressure--”

“Stop! I don’t want to hear any more!” Asuma stopped himself and looked at his lover. She was staring off into space, tears beginning to form in her eyes. “…I miss him……I miss Kakashi…” Asuma tried to look where Kurenai was looking. “…Yeah……me too…”

The Hidden Leaf Village cried……

- - - - - - - -

No one missed Kakashi more than Iruka. He was sure that what he felt towards the jounin was love. He missed his warm presence in the room. He missed his idiotic but cute behavior. He missed his body; the way it looked, smelled, felt…and he missed having Kakashi as a friend. That was the one thing that bothered Iruka the most……was that he would never see his friend, his secret love, again.

Iruka tried to suppress the choking feeling he had in his throat, but finally decided he wasn’t going to get any sleep. He sat up in his bed to get a glass of water, but the pain from his bandages kept him from getting all the way up. The burns were in the process of healing. They felt hot and stingy, but were quickly cooled off by a breeze of the cool early morning air…

Wait……Breeze…?…Cool early morning air? Iruka looked to the window on the other side of his room. Moonlight filled the area with a dim silvery blue glow. But Iruka didn’t remember leaving it open…

A/N: I KNOW its memory/flashback filler, but I HAD to do it in order to move the story along without too many questions. It was just bothering me so much that I couldn’t explain all this in the next chapter…which is still very confusing to me right now…but I can tell you that Part 4 will be THE END! Part 2

The days went by slowly for Iruka. All he could think about was Kakashi, and what had happened a week ago in his classroom. Every day Iruka cursed himself for spilling his heart out, because it had only broken it.

Kakashi was right about never wanting to see him again. He never turned his mission reports in during Iruka’s shifts. Whenever Iruka was walking along and spotted the masked jounin, he would quickly vanish. Iruka had never felt so hurt by someone, especially by his former friend…

Iruka’s dreams were affected as well. Every night he woke up terrified…terrified of Kakashi. He dreamt Kakashi was choking him, and insulting him in disgust. The dreams had recently elevated to using kunai’s.

Iruka feared Kakashi, although some small part of him still loved the jounin. He had no idea why. Even after the incident, Iruka just couldn’t let go. Was this what love was? Loving someone no matter what happens? That’s how Iruka felt…

- - - - - - - -

The temperature of Konoha had risen overnight, and it wasn’t because of the weather. Red and orange glows flickered in the shadows of the village. The fire had spread everywhere, along with chaos and confusion.

Explosions boomed over the yells and cries of innocent citizens. Sound Ninja ran rampant through the streets, chasing and killing everything in sight. The flames kept rising as all of Konoha’s ANBU and Jounin squads assembled to take down the threat.

Chuunin and select Jounin were assigned to rescue missions, to save everyone they could find and bring them to safety. Iruka couldn’t escape this nightmare. He was so confused, and didn’t even know when the attack had begun.

He ran through the glowing red streets of Konoha, searching for people in need of rescue. He rushed past the burning Ninja Academy, but before he could continue forward, he noticed a couple of jounin standing outside. Iruka ran toward the other ninja. “What’s happening? What’s going on?”

Iruka made out the figure of Asuma in the firelight. “We’re not entirely sure. All we know is the Sound Ninja came out of nowhere and just started attacking. We think it may have something to do with Orochimaru, but we still don’t know why yet…”

There were the sounds and screams of fleeing villagers and roaring fires. “Then why are you here, and not out helping people?” Genma spoke up this time. “A whole mess of Sound-Nin entered the Academy building with a bunch of kidnapped children.” Iruka froze and thought immediately of the students he cared for so much.

Asuma noticed Iruka’s worried reaction and tried to reassure him, “Don’t worry Iruka-sensei. Most of them have already been rescued…” Asuma pointed out a group of students huddled on the other side of the streets. “…but once Kakashi saw this other kid run inside--”

“Kakashi?” Iruka had perked up attentively when he heard the jounin’s name. “Yeah, Kakashi’s in charge of rescuing the kids, while we’re in charge of watching over them. But he saw a little boy run back inside for some reason and went chasing after him. He usually doesn’t take this long—HEY!”

But it was too late. Iruka had already bolted through the door and into the fiery building. He could here Genma yelling something about stopping, but the brave chuunin just ignored him. He had to find his students, and he had to find Kakashi.

Iruka ran through the overheated hallways and stopped at an intersection. Thankfully, the fire had just started, which gave Iruka time. “HEY! ANYBODY IN HERE?!” Nobody answered, but a bright flash of light appeared down one of the halls. Iruka sprinted towards the source, as the air got thicker and thicker.

Iruka barged through the cafeteria doors. There were ninja bodies scattered everywhere across the tables and floor, smeared with blood. In the smoky haze he noticed Kakashi huddled up in the far corner of the room. Iruka dashed across the motionless ninja and crouched down next to Kakashi. He could see he was bleeding badly.

Iruka reached out a hand to inspect the copy-nin’s wounds, “You’re hurt…”, but a gloved hand swatted Iruka’s arm away. “Don’t touch me!” Iruka frowned and glared at Kakashi. “We need to get moving. The building could collapse or explode any minute now! Where are the other children?”

“…They were Sound Ninja…” Iruka paused, a little relieved, until he noticed the smoke was getting darker and the heat was getting stronger. “Kakashi we need to get out of here! Let’s go!” Kakashi didn’t budge.

“You used up all you’re chakra didn’t you?” The injured jounin avoided eye contact with the other ninja. “…I can’t believe you’re still mad at me…why?” The roaring flames started to creep into the cafeteria.

Iruka knelt down even closer to Kakashi, “Come on. We need to leave now. I’m picking you up.” Kakashi hastily pulled away from Iruka, “Just leave me alone!” Iruka snapped with anger. “Why are you mad at me?! Is it because you’re afraid of me?! Are you scared you might catch something like a disease?! Yes, I’m gay Kakashi! And I don’t know why, but I still love you and I always will, so DEAL WITH IT!”

Kakashi looked back at Iruka for the first time since their meeting in the classroom. “…I don’t know why Kakashi…I just don’t. But ever since the first day I saw you and we became friends…I just…fell in love…”

The intense heat and dense smoke woke both ninja from their senses. “We have to go NOW!” Iruka extended an urgent hand to Kakashi. The jounin paused shortly, before eventually grabbing hold of Iruka’s hand. The tanned shinobi felt himself smile a little inside.

Kakashi was flipped onto Iruka’s back and carried through the flames and out to the burning hallway. Iruka stopped at the intersection where a loud rumble caused the whole school to shake. “The fire’s hit the boiler room!” Iruka shouted through the crackling of flames.

He ran as fast as he could through the burning entrance hallway with Kakashi on his back. The heat suddenly increased as the piping began to bulge with extreme heat and pressure. Iruka strained to make it to the door as the flames began to rise and the pipes began to burst. Iruka dodged every flame until a huge explosion was heard behind him.

Iruka used all of his chakra to get out of the inferno. He was almost there, only about fifty feet away. There was a hot gush of wind coming up behind him. Iruka just barely glanced over his shoulder and Kakashi to see a huge wall of fire stampeding towards them.

Everything was going in slow motion. Iruka could hear his pounding heartbeat, and feel the vibrations of his feet as they hit the ground. He could even hear Kakashi’s heartbeat. It was a calm steady rhythm. But Iruka heard something else. He heard a soft low whisper. “I’m sorry…”

The weight on Iruka’s back was lifted. There was a huge burst of steaming hot air that pushed Iruka forward and propelled him out the door. He skidded onto the cold rocky ground, scratching himself up on his knees and arms. A huge amount of heat rushed over the top of his body, before receding and leaving a thick smoky smell.

Iruka couldn’t see anything clearly. His eyes were blurry from the smoke and hot dense air. Everything went black as he remembered those last few words. “I’m sorry…”

A/N: So sorry to make this so long (I’ll keep it 4-3 parts, I swear) but I just kept getting new ideas! A lot of the time though, I didn’t know what to type, so I hope you liked it! *scratches back of head with nervous smile*
Anyway, I hope to think up a new chapter very soon, with some hopefully happy endings…but this weekend is busy too because of MORE schoolwork AND I get to go see Wicked. I will do my best! See ‘ya next chappy! *extremely huge grin*

Summary: Iruka’s heart is broken, but Kakashi finds something about himself that he never knew…

Part 1

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

In the back of his mind, Iruka always thought of Kakashi as more than a friend. Well, not that they’ve seen each other that much…but they’ve known one another for almost a year now. Iruka would blush whenever Kakashi was in the room, or in the same area as him, and would go completely silent with embarrassment. He would curse himself afterwards for acting so stupid. Iruka never was really god with love…

- - - - - - - -

Kakashi casually strolled into the Mission’s Office. His report was a few days late, but it didn’t bother him.

“Hi Iruka-sensei.” He nonchalantly held the papers in front of Iruka, looking off to the side as he did so. Several moments passed before Kakashi realized he still had the papers in his hands. He turned to face Iruka.

The other man looked like he was deep in thought, almost straining with something. He was silent, but his face was stern and serious, and his eyes stared at his desk.

“Uh…Iruka-sensei?” Iruka blinked hard a few times before returning to the real world. “Oh, I’m sorry Kakashi-sensei!” Still dazed from his thoughts, Iruka took the papers from Kakashi and began reading them.

Kakashi held up a hand, smiling behind his mask, “Please, let’s not refer to each other as sensei. We’ve known each other for what…almost a year? We shouldn’t need to be so formal by now.” Kakashi caught sight of the slightest color change in Iruka’s face. “…eh…sorry Kakashi-sen--I mean…Kakashi…”

Iruka stamped the report and filed it away. He ruffled through some scrolls and handed Kakashi his next assignment. Kakashi lazily reached for it and turned around to pull away, “Thank you."

He was immediately pulled back. Kakashi looked back to see what had happened and found a tanned hand still clutching the scroll. He looked down at Iruka, whose arm was still outstretched and holding Kakashi’s mission.

Finally Iruka spoke up. “I’m sorry, are you doing anything later today?” he asked with a friendly smile. Kakashi just stared back with an unreadable expression. “…uhhh…I think I might be available by the time you’re done teaching…why…?”

Iruka sat up a little straighter. “I want to talk to you after my class is over…is that okay?” Iruka could sense Kakashi’s confusion, but he still held onto the scroll, awaiting an answer.

“Sure, I guess I can do that Iruka.” Satisfied, Iruka released the scroll from his grasp. Kakashi placed it in his back pocket and smiled again under his mask. “See you later then Iruka!” With that, he vanished in a wisp of smoke. “..later…” Iruka stayed frozen for a while before breathing in a sigh of relief.

- - - - - - - -

Kakashi scanned the unrolled parchment in front of him.

‘What was that all about?’

- - - - - - - -

Iruka sat at his classroom desk. His heart was fluttering with anticipation, and there was still at least five minutes left in school. Iruka felt like he was going to have a nervous break down in less than two.

The academy teacher stared at the clock obsessively, watching every tick of the second hand inch by slowly. Eventually he realized he wasn’t the only one. The entire class was fixed on the clock, eager to escape the confines of school. Iruka couldn’t believe he was acting like an anxious little kid. Finally, he decided on the most simple solution.

“Class Dismissed…” Iruka expected to hear scraping chairs and loud cheers of joy. Instead he found the whole class staring back at him with intense confusion and awe.

Konohamaru was the first to speak up. “Uh…Iruka-sensei…there’s still five minutes left in class…” Mochi agreed. “Yeah…is something wrong Iruka-sensei? Are you feeling sick?”

Mochi was partly right, Iruka was feeling a little light headed. He felt a little faint too, but didn’t want to collapse in front of the entire class. “Everyone leave the room now, or we won’t learn any special jutsus!” Everyone was up and running out the door, and soon the entire classroom was empty, with the exception of Iruka falling back into his chair.

‘I’m becoming way too soft…’ Iruka laid down on his desk, his head supported by his criss-crossed arms. He shifted from side to side, searching for a comfortable position before eventually shutting his eyes.

- - - - - - - -

Iruka’s eyes slowly fluttered open to see another eye staring back into his. He thought about screaming in surprise, but knew that would only give Kakashi satisfaction. So he just slowly sat up and stretched.

“You’re no fun” said a pouty voice. Iruka ignored the comment. “How long was I asleep?”

“It’s about a couple hours after class now…and I just got here…” Iruka also thought about yelling in surprise and anger there too, but he’d known Kakashi too long to provoke him. Kakashi looked disappointed. “Jeez…what’s wrong with you today? First at the Mission’s Office and now this? What’s going on?”

Iruka looked down at his desk. “I want to tell you something important. You might want to sit down for this.” Kakashi’s eye widened in surprise and confusion. He stared silently at the chuunin as he took his seat at the student’s desk closest to Iruka.

Iruka shivered and sighed. His heartbeat started to pick up speed and he suddenly felt very hot. He was already this far, so he might as well get it over with.

Iruka tilted his head up to look at the other ninja. “We’ve known each other for a while now, right?” Kakashi silently nodded, staring back at the other man with an unknown expression. “…well, I don’t think we really know each other that much…” Kakashi sat listening intently.

Iruka stood up from his desk and walked towards Kakashi’s desk. “I’ve always thought of our relationship as being friends…” Kakashi gave an understanding nod. “…but…” Iruka sat down next to his confused friend. His mind was yelling something, but his heart was screaming something else.

Kakashi was still silent, too confused to even speak. He watched as the tanned shinobi beside him struggled with an emotional battle. “…Kakashi…” Iruka looked up at the masked jounin. Both ninja swallowed nervously, their hearts pounding in their throats.

“…..I….love…you..” Kakashi’s breathing hitched. Iruka continued with more confidence. “…I’m in love with you, Kakashi…”

Iruka slowly leaned in and touched his lips against Kakashi’s mask. Their warm breath mixed together in their lips. Iruka started kissing and sucking at Kakashi’s cloth covered lips, his breathing unsteady and nervous.

But then he noticed something he had always feared, Kakashi wasn’t kissing back. Iruka slowly pulled away and saw the expression in the other ninja’s eye. It was an intense glare of disgust and hate. Iruka could feel the strong foreboding aura that Kakashi was giving off as he slowly backed away. “…what..?”

“…get away from me…” was all Kakashi was able to say. Iruka started to back away even more, not because Kakashi said to, but out of pure fear. Kakashi stood up and formed a hand seal. “…I never want to see you again…so stay away from me…” He disappeared in a loud puff of smoke. The smoke was black and smelled like charcoal.

Iruka leaned against the wall that he had backed into. He let his head go limp and put a hand to his mouth as he tried to suppress the tears that were already forming in his eyes. Iruka slipped down to the floor and started to cry. His breath was ragged and unsteady, as he pulled up into a little ball and sobbed into his arms. Warm salty tears dampened Iruka’s uniform, which also muffled quiet cries and whimpers.

Iruka’s heart had been broken by the man he loved and respected most…his best friend…and his secret love…

TO BE CONTINUED…

A/N: …*sniffle*…“oh god Iruka…come here…” *sniffle* Iruka slowly and sadly walks into ilovekakairu’s arms. *big hug* *tears* *sadness*……Then everything turns chibi and full of sunshine and Iruka and Kakashi start to dance! …I wish… Anyway, you’ll have to read the next chapter to find out what happens next (should be a while ‘cause of school and other issues). I’ll try and get it out as fast as I can!

KAKAIRU COSPLAY SKIT SCRIPT:

(Sakura and Iruka are onstage for whatever reason you see fit, but they are on stage and that’s what matters)

Sakura: And now, Kakashi Hatake has an announcement to make!

*Audience cheers as ‘Kashi takes the stage, reading Icha Icha. He takes the microphone from Sakura and puts his book away.*

Kakashi: That’s right Sakura-chan, I do have an announcement. You see, I’ve been hiding something from everyone, and I want to share my secret. It’s always hard for me to express my feelings, so this is very difficult for me. But I think it needs to be said, and I can’t hold it back any longer. So instead of just telling you my secret, I’m going to show you…

*Kakashi hands the mic back to Sakura and heads over to Iruka. When he nears him, he hesitates a little, putting his hand behind his head, looking a bit embarrassed. Then, he gets close to Iruka and puts his arms around his waist. He curves his back, placing his hips on Iruka’s, and leaning in to put his forehead on Iruka’s. They both smile and nuzzle each other, their foreheads together and the fangirls screaming in shock, amazement, relief, and joy.
This is the most important part. Kakashi starts to twist Iruka a little bit so that Kakashi’s back is mostly towards the audience. Then, he pulls down his mask and lands a deep kiss on Iruka. Iruka’s arms fling up a little in surprise, then relax and land themselves on ‘Kashi’s back. By now, some fangirls have already fainted, and sadly Kakashi and Iruka end the beautiful kiss. Kakashi pulls up his mask and grabs Iruka’s hand, walking off stage with him. When he passes Sakura though, he grabs the mic and says…*

Kakashi: Yes, we really are in love…

*Both walk off stage together, smiling at each other. They leave a shocked Sakura and a really hot and exhausted audience.*

P.S. You could rearrange the quotes however you like (Iruka could say the last quote), but I REALLY want a cosplay group to do this and film it (It’ll be hard getting 2 guys to do this, one white and one tan, but it MUST BE DONE!). It would make me cry with joy if someone posted a cosplay video with this script on YouTube or something! Plus I bet the fangirls watching would just die!

A/N: This may very well be the final *sniffle* chapter of "Unknown Love" (partly because their love is known now). If I get at least 3-5 people who want me to continue, I might add another chapter. Don't worry though, I have 2 other fics in the making!

FEEDBACK GREATLY APPRECIATED!

Chapter 6: Love Becomes Known

Rated: *PG-13* for Angst

Iruka leaned on the wall outside of Kakashi’s room, rethinking what had just happened. The lights in the empty hallway were dim, and occasionally flickering. ‘Does he…really love me…?’

Iruka slid slowly down the wall until he was sitting curled up on the cold hard floor, and sighed. ‘I don’t know what to do…’ He curled up even tighter, pulling his legs closer to his chest. ‘Why did he choose me? It’s really easy for him to find a nice woman…’

Iruka put his head in his legs. ‘…it’s the first time anyone has ever said that to me…that they loved me…’ Iruka stiffened. ‘STOP THINKING ABOUT IT!’ But the chuunin couldn’t stop thinking about Kakashi…why?

‘It’s not like I hate him or anything…’ Iruka relaxed and spread his legs out in the conveniently empty hallway. ‘It might be…because I’m scared of what will happen…’

‘Maybe I’m scared that if our relationship changes like that…one day it will end……I guess I just want to stay in a relationship that will last forever…’ Iruka’s eyes widened.

Seconds later, he relaxed with a faint smile on his face. ‘I think I see now…’ Iruka slowly stood up off the ground and brushed himself off. ‘…maybe…I’m actually in love with him too…’ Iruka thought a bit more about Kakashi as he closed his eyes and leaned back against the wall. He thought about Kakashi’s slim muscled body…his deep raspy voice…his glimmering silver hair…his sweet manly scent…

Iruka smiled again. ‘Yeah……that must be love…’

Iruka came out of his thoughtful state and decided to re-enter Kakashi’s room. He was ready to face him now. Iruka slowly opened the door, hoping not to make a sound. Then he froze. Iruka stood in the doorway for a few seconds, his mind still registering what was going on. Then, Iruka bolted out of the room and down the hallway, yelling to the nearest medical-nin, “Nurse! Nurse! Kakashi has run away! Come quickly! He escaped through his window…..”

Kakashi’s hospital room window was open, letting in a slight breeze and causing the curtains to sway. There was a light drizzle outside…

The sky was dark and cold, rain pouring down in the dim light. A sudden rainstorm had crossed over the mountains that afternoon, with no signs of letting up. Dusk would be coming soon, but it was still light out enough so the sky was a misty shade of grey. A cool breeze washed past Iruka on his way back to his apartment. He was tired of searching for Kakashi, and was already starting to feel a little sick from the sudden rain.

Iruka wearily trudged through the rain under his umbrella on his way back to his apartment, wishing he had brought a jacket for this cold unexpected weather. All he wore was his usual Chuunin uniform.

‘Dammit Kakashi. Where are you? Why did you run away? I’m worried sick about you…please come back…’ Iruka was passing by the training grounds when he saw someone hunched over near the memorial. “…Kakashi…” He was wearing his usual jounin uniform and mask, with his hair damp from the rain.

Iruka decided to play it safe by walking over slowly towards the other man. As he got closer, he saw Kakashi go from a squatted position, to sort of a kneel, so that his legs were touching the cold wet ground. Then Iruka realized the kunai Kakashi was holding in his hands. Kakashi brought it up into the rain, looking into the grey clouded sky. He held the kunai with both hands, pointing it towards his chest.

There was a flash of bight lightning. Kakashi hesitated for a while, saying something inaudible into the loud rain. “NOOOO!” There was a loud boom of thunder covering Iruka’s cries. Iruka dropped his umbrella and dashed forward as fast as he could, determined to save his friend’s life. When the second flash of lightning hit, Kakashi had finished his mumbling and was preparing to strike himself. ‘I’m too far away…I’ll never make it in time!’

Iruka pulled out a shuriken and threw it as hard as he could. There was a clink of metal and two sharp thuds as both the kunai and the shuriken hit the ground. Kakashi whirled around to see what had happened, but Iruka had already tackled him down to the muddy grass.

Iruka pulled up off of Kakashi, looking at his depressed friend. There was a blank otherworldly look in his eye, staring off into space. Iruka held Kakashi in the rain and looked at the jounin with pity and sadness.

“WHY?!” Kakashi just gazed into the sky with and empty eye, letting the water soak and encompass him. “Why did you do that Kakashi?! ANSWER ME!” Iruka lightly shook Kakashi in the rain, before he realized he wouldn’t get an answer.
“Kakashi! Get up! Don’t blame yourself! Please! Get up!” Kakashi couldn’t hear him. Iruka felt helpless.
The grey sky was unforgiving, as the rain poured down on the two ninja. Iruka’s hair was becoming wet and slick, while Kakashi’s was already soaked. There was another silent bolt of lightning, followed by a roaring clap of thunder. Iruka bent down towards Kakashi, unable to hold back the tears that were flooding his face. “I was stupid to run out on you like that Kakashi…” Iruka sobbed out. “…Why did I have to think on it? I knew, ever since the day I met you…I knew what I was feeling…” Kakashi seemed to notice Iruka’s words, because his one eye was starting to become full again. The rain poured hard, soaking Iruka and Kakashi’s uniforms. Strands of Iruka’s hair started to come undone from his usual ponytail. “Since the day I saw you Kakashi…I…I’ve always had feelings for you.”

Kakashi’s eye was slightly wider, too tired to show too much expression. “I shouldn’t have run out on you…I’m sorry…I’m so sorry…” Iruka was still choking out tears. “…please don’t kill yourself…you have so much to live for...if only I had told you sooner. But even I didn’t know for sure………that is until you told me..” Iruka leaned in even closer to Kakashi, face to face. “..I…I love you too…Kakashi-sensei…”

In the rain, you could barely tell the difference between Kakashi’s tears, and the rain in his eye. Iruka lifted up Kakashi’s headband to make sure, and found that his Sharingan Eye was also wet, with tears. Kakashi closed his eyes tightly, trying to restrain his embarrassing emotions. But he couldn’t hold back any longer.

Kakashi quickly grabbed hold of Iruka and hugged him, burying his face into the chuunin’s chest. “I—Iruka…I love you so much!” Iruka looked down at the jounin. He was surprised, saddened, happy…Tears were welling up in both of their eyes. Kakashi kept holding on under Iruka. “I was just…so sure you had rejected me…that I…”

“I know…” Iruka placed a tan skinned hand on Kakashi’s wet silver hair. “I just wish that--” Iruka paused for a moment. “Someday…I could be straightforward and honest about my feelings too…” Kakashi only hugged Iruka tighter. “Maybe that day…will come soon…”

Iruka gently broke free of Kakashi’s hold and leaned into Kakashi. Iruka and Kakashi just gazed into each other’s eyes for a moment, just inches away from each other. Their lips met through wet silky cloth, dancing around each other, sucking on the wetness of their lips and the mask separating them, desperately wanting direct contact. Kakashi was the one to break the kiss. “I’ve wanted this for so long…” “Me too…” Kakashi slipped a finger inside his mask, hesitating. Finally, he began to slowly pull down his mask, revealing his facial features, inch by inch.

Iruka was in pure shock and awe. He felt his heart stop for a few moments, as time slowed down. Iruka could see that Kakashi wasn’t disfigured at all except for his Sharingan Eye. He had the perfect face. A face he could love forever. His pale skin, a scar that ran down his left eye, and those beautiful lips that he had just brushed against a few seconds ago.

Kakashi leaned up and kissed Iruka fully, taking in the pleasure of their tongues grasping each other and their lips embracing. The warmth of Kakashi filled Iruka up, taking away the cold rain around him, and Iruka was pretty sure Kakashi felt the same way. Their warmth combined, as the shinobi kissed hard and deep, tears starting to disappear as everything around them became brighter.

They kissed for what seemed like an eternity. Finally, both of them pulled away and stared into each others eyes. “I love you Iruka Umino” –Kakashi Hatake.” They said almost simultaneously. Then they hugged. A long warm embracing hug. They breathed in each others scents, and nuzzled into one another. Both of them had smiles of joy and love on their faces, as they enjoyed each other’s company. They never wanted this to end.

Their pasts had caught up with them. Ever since the day they met, that one fateful perfectly normal afternoon in Konoha…their destinies changed. It was true love…

The sun was shining bright as the dreary clouds floated away, leaving a wet Konoha to dry. A faint rainbow could barely be distinguished in the distance.

Two shinobi sat on the Academy Rooftop. “So what now?” Kakashi looked down on Konoha. “I don’t really know…”

Iruka stared at his new lover, just watching him be himself. Iruka watched as Kakashi looked at the village below them, admiring Kakashi’s every movement, every word, every scent, every touch…that mysterious mask…why did Kakashi hide such a beautiful face? He got butterflies in his stomach whenever he was around Kakashi, it just felt so good to be around him. Kakashi looked over, doing a double take before noticing Iruka staring at him.

“What?” he lightly laughed. Iruka snapped out of his romantic trance, “Oh…nothing…” He blushed a bright red and turned to look toward the city too. This time though Kakashi was staring at Iruka. “You know, you’re really cute when you blush.” Iruka blushed even more, scratching his nose with his finger…“Oh…uh…thank you!” Kakashi smiled, quickly pulling down his mask before giving Iruka another deep kiss.

Iruka panicked at the thought of being seen like this, what would people think, say…or do? But Kakashi’s hand brushed Iruka’s face in calming reassurance. Both ninja relaxed and closed their eyes, lips locked and tongues slowly tangling. They held each other close before eventually breaking the kiss and wiping off their mouths. Kakashi pulled Iruka close again, placing their foreheads together and smiling. Iruka actually giggled a little bit, as he and Kakashi looked again into each other. Their foreheads were pressed together, and they could feel their lover’s warm presence.

But it was time to go…because the life of a shinobi is not a peaceful one. Iruka didn’t want to believe it as he got up with Kakashi, saddened by the departure.

Kakashi and Iruka walked down the hill to Konoha, a place they had nearly forgotten about in the past few days. As they walked down, they firmly held hands, fingers entwined between each other. As they neared Konoha though, they walked like they normally would, Iruka very stern, and Kakashi with his hands in his pockets. They ignored each others existence in the village, for fear of their secret getting out. It was painful, but it was a path they decided to take.

Even when they weren’t holding hands, both shinobi were thinking the same thing…‘I love you…’

Chapter 5: Forgotten Memories

Rated: *PG* for Angst

Iruka shifted papers around aimlessly in the Mission’s Office, unable to forget about a shinobi he had met for the first time yesterday. Kakashi Hatake was his name, and he was the famous Copy Ninja of Konoha. Iruka was so excited to get to see this mysterious ninja for the first time. Iruka recalled the occasion…..

…..“Kakashi-Sensei?” The copy-nin kept walking forward, paying no attention to the chuunin behind him. Iruka kept walking forward, trying to catch up with the fast pace of the former ANBU. “You’re Kakashi Hatake aren’t you?” The silent jounin stopped walking, causing Iruka to back up quickly from almost bumping into him. Iruka scratched the back of his head nervously, “Um…my name is Iruka Umino, and I’m also working with training aspiring ninja.”

Kakashi was still faced the other direction, silent but listening. Iruka stretched out his hand, “Uh…nice to meet you!” he said with a bright smile on his face. Kakashi finally turned his head a little to look at the eager chuunin. There was a moment where both stood still as Kakashi looked at Iruka with his one exposed eye. “Nice to meet you too!” Kakashi turned around all the way and grabbed the hand in front of him, shaking gently and his one eye upturned.

Iruka couldn’t help but give a big smile at his successful introduction…..

…..that’s how it had gone, that’s how Iruka had first met Kakashi, just a simple ‘hello nice to meet you’. Yet as Iruka sat at his desk in the Mission’s Office, tapping his pencil on the table, he couldn’t help but rethink and try to relive that moment over and over again in his head. There was something mysterious about Kakashi that gave him chills of excitement…was it his mask? What could be hidden under there? ‘I wonder…’

…Three months later, Kakashi stepped into the Mission’s Office. Iruka was busy grading his student’s papers when he saw the jounin enter. He hid behind the papers and blushed heavily, you could almost see it through the paper. “Hello Iruka-sensei!” Iruka quickly shuffled all his students work into a box and closed the lid, leaving a mess in the process. “I’m here to turn in my mission report.” Kakashi said nonchalantly. Iruka nodded and took the paper, starting to read it thoroughly.

“You’re awfully quite today Iruka-sensei.” Iruka glanced up at Kakashi, then back down at the report, “Yes well…being quite helps me concentrate.” Kakashi’s exposed eye widened in interest and disbelief, “Oh, I see…”

‘STUPID STUPID STUPID! What the hell was that?! Surely you can think of a better answer! You can be so stupid sometimes Iruka!’

Iruka’s mind yelled in agony. Iruka was tired of hiding his feelings. He wanted to tell Kakashi right then and there that he was in love with him. Iruka wanted to just jump up and embrace Kakashi. He wanted to caress Kakashi and never let go, hugging tightly until his arms hurt. He also wanted Kakashi to feel the same way, but Kakashi didn’t look like that kind of guy. Iruka sighed.

“Uh…Iruka is something wrong?” Iruka came out of his little dream world and looked up at Kakashi, “Oh, it’s nothing…” Kakashi didn’t look convinced, “Then why have you been staring blankly at my mission report for 2 minutes?” Iruka shot a surprised glance at the ninja in front of him and blushed a deep red, “Sorry…” He finished grading Kakashi’s papers and handed them back to the waiting jounin.

The jounin laughed lightheartedly, “Don’t work too hard Iruka-sensei!” Just as Kakashi was leaving, Iruka yelled out, “Wait!” The older man stopped and slowly turned around, looking at the tanned chuunin with interest. There was a long moment of silence. “Nevermind…” Iruka looked down from Kakashi, staring back at his desk. By the time Iruka looked back up, Kakashi was already gone…

…That night as Iruka lay in his bed, all he could think about was Kakashi. He thought about his mask, covering everything but that one exposed eye, the eye that Iruka always looked into with deep longing. He thought about his well toned muscular body, bathing in the sunlight under his ninja outfit. He thought about his deep raspy voice, saying things that Iruka knew Kakashi would never say…why couldn’t he express his feelings for the jounin?

That’s when it hit Iruka. He would have to forget about Kakashi if he was ever going to go on with his life. His students were getting more insane, his work hadn’t been getting done, and he had been daydreaming almost every day for the past three months. It was painful for Iruka to admire someone he loved so much from afar. He wanted to lift up Kakashi’s mask and kiss long and deep until he was gasping for air.

Iruka started to cry. You could barely make out his sobs of pain in the dark silence of his room. Iruka had finally decided that Kakashi would never love him the way Iruka did. They barely even saw each other, let alone knew each other. They would only meet a couple of times at important meetings and at the Mission’s Office. It was too painful to think about what would happen if Kakashi found out Iruka’s secret, that would mean he’d leave him forever and never see him again.

‘I would rather be his acquaintance and see him occasionally…then to have him walk away from me forever…’

Iruka fell asleep immediately, exhausted after all the tears.

A/N: Yeah yeah, I know this is a flashback chapter. But I needed this to explain Iruka really DOES (or at least did) love Kakashi! I'll get to Kakashi's problem from Ch. 4 in the next chapter. I can't believe I've already made 5 chaps in 3 days, and am already working on the sixth! Maybe I really am getting better! :) (or maybe it's just the fact that the chapters are really short compared to other FF's)
